Subject: BS: Reality TV From: Bert Date: 09 Jan 12 - 12:24 AM Have you noticed that, on the TV cooking shows, the best one never wins; especially if the best one is a woman? Is that why they call it Reality TV??? |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Mr Happy Date: 09 Jan 12 - 07:38 AM Unreal!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: GUEST,Wesley S Date: 09 Jan 12 - 08:11 AM As for cooking shows how can you tell who's the "best" if you aren't there to taste the food? As for the rest of "Reality" TV - who'd watch it if it were real? |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Acorn4 Date: 09 Jan 12 - 08:30 AM Reality TV Very true - a lot of the attraction of cooking is the smell. |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Bobert Date: 09 Jan 12 - 08:55 AM Reality TV ain't all that real... My Cousin Buddy and his kids did "Bear Swamp Recovery" reality about their repo company and there were 4 writers... Who need writers if it's supposed to be a reality show... I suspect they are all the same... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Greg F. Date: 09 Jan 12 - 04:57 PM "Reality TV" is an oxymoron. Scripted fairytales that are Bread & Circuses for the feeble minded. |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Jack the Sailor Date: 09 Jan 12 - 05:41 PM "Bread and Circus" That's an idea for a reality show. Now all we need is a business called the "Big Top Bakery!" |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: gnu Date: 09 Jan 12 - 06:43 PM I am loathe of some of the shite. But, Swamp People just kinds bites me in the ass. Cannot get enough of these tough survivors scratching and clawing a living outta one of the nastiest places on earth. Indeed, the practices are gruesome and cruel, but I know friends and relatives who live the same way... one lad said to me one time when he asked me to help him get somethin outta the woods in an illegal manner, "I like to eat. You like to eat?" When you see it up close and personal, you understand. It IS reality. BTW, if anyone wants to know, I refused. I do like to eat and losing my professional engineering license was not something I was willing to do. I hope he made out okay and was able to feed his wife and kids. |
Subject: RE: BS: Reality TV From: Bert Date: 09 Jan 12 - 07:03 PM ...how can you tell who's the "best" if you aren't there to taste the food?... Well actually because the judges themselves said so. This was on the last version of Chopped that we watched. They went through each of the meals and one person was clearly ahead in their estimation. For some inexplicable reason they chopped her. The there was the Halloween wars a few months ago. Which were judged mainly on their artistic merit. There was one team that was consistently better but another team won. I suspect that the result was preordained or maybe the judges had absolutely no artistic talent themselves. |
