Subject: BS: Need housing DC area 5/20-6/2/2012 From: Janie Date: 05 Jan 12 - 09:50 PM My son is again doing an end-of-year school internship with American Parkour/Primal Gym in Washington DC. He is a senior at Carolina Friends School, a private Quaker school in Durham, NC. He had a great experience last spring, hosted on alternate weeks by the families of Bill D and Annie Storr. Feel free to check with either Bill or Annie for feedback regarding whether Sean was an acceptable guest. He found both families to be gracious and accommodating hosts, but both households are very busy and even the most independent of company still places demands on a family's schedule so I don't want to presume on either family to host him again. He really just needs a place to sleep, take a shower, and grab a bowl of cereal and a glass of juice in the mornings. The activities of the internship keep him very busy and totally engrossed from early morning until fairly late at night. He is 18 and this 2nd year internship is his last act before graduating from high school. He is responsible (well, after he leaves, you may want to look under the bed to see what he left behind - I pay shipping costs:>) and independent, does not require supervision. As an overly anxious mother I would prefer he have a curfew of 11:00 unless there is an overnight event at Primal Gym. I would be comfortable with him staying at a youth hostel except that he and I are both concerned about security. He needs a safe place to leave possessions during the day and I prefer he have trusted adults outside of the internship program as a safety net. (Anxious mom again.) If you are able and willing to help out for some or all of the time, please send me a pm or e-mail at endresgardenataoldotcom. We also insist on paying room and board. Thanks. Janie I know the dates encompass Memorial Day weekend when many people are out of town. He and I have already discussed me coming to Washington for that weekend so I can have a little break, and he could stay with me in a motel room that weekend. |
