Subject: Stolen Guitars - Wellington NZ From: ChrisJBrady Date: 04 Jan 12 - 10:53 AM This came up on the NZ Folk mailing list. ==== From: Tony Hillyard [tonyh@clear.net.nz] FW: Guitars have been stolen! Hi there I'm forwarding this on behalf of Carol Bean. See email below. Please help her track down her guitars, particularly the little Martin. It is pretty easy to spot. The slotted head makes it a little unusual, as does the sound. It has had some major repair work I seem to remember, so you might see traces of that on the back etc. Carol could tell you more. There is a good pic of the Martin here on Carol's website: http://www.carolbean.com/galleryshow.asp?imgid=4369&galid=83 It shows the little Martin's distinctive tuners as well. Please let your musical networks know about the theft and let's try and catch the thieves, or at least get Carol's guitars back. Thanks Tony Hillyard ==== From: Carol Bean carol.lester@paradise.net.nz Sent: Tuesday, 3 January 2012 11:54 a.m. Subject: My guitars have been stolen! Dear everyone On Friday, mid day, Dec 30th my old 0021 Martin guitar was stolen. The thieves also took my 1957 Duo Jet Grestch (black and white electric with a Bigsby 'whammy' bar) Both are in black guitar cases. The serial number on the Martin is 144442. It was made in 1954. Most of you will know that I bought it under the guidance of Ry Cooder. It is a very precious guitar to me, for many reasons - it is iconic. It has a black Martin strap, a case with stickers on saying "Arcata Music' "Wildwood music' "Wild women sing the blues' etc. On the Grestch a red velvet strap a black heavy duty case with the name Gretsch on the bottom front. PLEASE PUT THE WORD AROUND YOUR NETWORKS ... it is very important to me. Thanks, Carol Bean http://www.carolbean.com Ph +64 (0)4 970 7850 Cell +64 (0)27 3590 884 ==== |

Subject: RE: Stolen Guitars - Wellington NZ From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Jan 12 - 11:58 AM Don't you just hate the sort of shits who do that? I'd have thought that Wellington would only have a limited market for guitars of that rank, so these could easily have been intended to go out of the country - say to Japan, an reasonably nearby place with a fancy for collecting. |

Subject: RE: Stolen Guitars - Wellington NZ From: Little Robyn Date: 04 Jan 12 - 07:46 PM Or some opportunist twerps who don't have a clue just what they've scored, will take them back to gang headquarters for a party. She left them at a friend's place while she went away over New Year - they wouldn't normally have been there. It's just unfortunate they were there when the house was burgled. Somewhere in Khandallah, in Wellington. Robyn |
