Subject: BS: Tech(ish) Videos From: JohnInKansas Date: 30 Dec 11 - 02:00 PM MSNBC's Cosmic Log column presents a survey of "science videos" from 2011 under the rather presumptious title of: Must-see science videos of 2011. There are links to several videos, but the one that caught my attention was the first one, showing what happened when two "conversational AI units" are hooked up to each other. The goal for such units is of course to create a "robot" that you can talk to, without being able to tell it's a robot. My question here is perhaps whether anyone else sees the close resemblance in the resulting "conversation" to the sort of exchanges occasionally seen here - which might imply that the Conversbots have achieved a close approach to the goal, or also could suggest that a few of our regular contributors, especially in BS, actually are robots. (No names please, if anyone chooses to cite specific examples from the BS section. Telling us who our own 'bots are might spoil someone's experiment.) Of course the other links at the page should be explored if something else looks interesting. John |
