Subject: RE: Obit: Ken Russell From: Tootler Date: 28 Nov 11 - 04:22 PM I enjoyed his film on Mozart. The historical facts may have been embellished/modified somewhat, but it made a good story and he told it well. As for the music - simply glorious. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Ken Russell From: Big Al Whittle Date: 28 Nov 11 - 09:32 PM I loved this guy. the music lovera, women in love, delius, the boyfriend..... Bax was sublime..... that image of the composer going to the crap film to hear his own music. Its just so wonderfully true and poignant, as to how it is as a writer of music. I couldn't make myself watch the devils - but I thought he was wonderful. Can't figure out why he's not been recognised for his contribution by Cecil Sharp House. Bloody genius! |

Subject: RE: Obit: Ken Russell From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker Date: 29 Nov 11 - 07:12 AM It's sad to think that for whatever reasons "The Devils" has been withheld from DVD release, it was only very recently announced that the BFI plan to make it available next year.. Now shamefully far too late for Ken to enjoy it's/his due public acclaim.. http://www.bfi.org.uk/news/143 |
