Certainly the Democrats will take their shots at him. But he has stood up to a lot in 5 years of campaigning. I think that if went to Billy Graham and had a talk with him then started attending a protestant church. He'd win in a walk. He's already known as a flip flopper. What's one more?

Gee, isn't The Church of Latter Day Saints a Protestant church?

The LDS choose to identify themselves as apart from protestant, catholic, orthodox or jewish. Their theology does have definite quirks that set them apart. I don't say that to denigrate them; we've had LDS serve honorably enough in government long since, without trucking in the kind of baggage that a bunch of the current candidates from "real Christian" denominations are proudly packing around. To my own mind, LDS are just a subspecies of fundamentalists.

I've known a number of LDS and they were all good, decent and honest folks.
Oh, and they worship Jesus too.

As a Rhode Islander slightly familiar with Romney's record in MA, I would rather have him than any other Repub candidates. However, that is not saying much in his favor.

Jack the Sailor: "He'd win in a walk. He's already known as a flip flopper. What's one more?"

Did it ever occur to you, that the reason they do all the flip-flopping, is because maybe another lobbyist, from another side of 'the cause' raised the payoff amount???....."I'll meet your payoff, and raise you_______much more!"

...then they hide behind their 'morality' and 'patriotism' and wanting to give out 'entitlements'..to the 'needy'(?).....to hide their tracks!

"I'm sorry, your Honor, I can't recall...."

Not rocket science.

I want to make it clear that I said "protestant" because I knew that LDS do not consider themselves "protestant." The Republicans who are anti-Romney, would not support him as a Catholic or Greek Orthodox, nor would those choices satisfy those who will not support him. Nor would a Billy Graham talk lead to that.

I have good friends who are Mormons. I would vote for them. But I would not vote for Romney for dog catcher if he was running against Michael Vick.

I am curious about the specific rules about nominating candidates at the Republican convention. IF they continue with this 3-4-5 way standoff and no one goes to the convention with the votes needed...can they just pick someone who has not campaigned? Could Darrell Issa or Mike Huckabee or even Chris Christie or Mitch McConnell or John Boehner 'reluctantly' be nominated?
I am sure it would be awkward in SOME ways, but might there be an advantage in springing someone who had not been tarnished with all this sad campaigning and who doesn't (immediately) look like a clown?
I have been voting since 1960, and I have never seen such a situation where either party has almost given up before the primaries even begin.

The Republicans are a loose alliance of angry people being led by corporate shills and propaganda. Their MO is to do constantly do wicked things, then scream to like monkeys and throw poop for days and and days at any complicit person or group whether a, democrat, a union, and actor or media person or group until the blame (the poop) is spread evenly.

Throwing poop back only encourages them.
