Subject: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: SINSULL Date: 14 Nov 11 - 10:57 AM A while back I won an auction here on Mudcat for a shawl or afghan of my choice. It arrived over the weekend and is amazing. Four panels, two off white/two chocolate. In each panel is the portrait of one of my kitties - Alice in full color with her curly tail, Ed glaring menacingly while looking like a cuddly pussycat, chubby Liz in white and black and of course Freddie with his curly tail and tiger stripes. Their eyes are the most intriguing part - each kitty is there. I can't imagine how many hours went into this. It needs to be dated and signed. I have visions of Antique Road Show 3012 with someone citing Mudcat and the date to authenticate the provenance of this original Jacqui creation. Thank you, Jacqui. It is beyond beautiful. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: SINSULL Date: 15 Nov 11 - 08:06 AM I didn't say Jacqui is lovely. I said the afghan is beautiful. Jacqui is a bossy old bitch with an attitude. heh heh |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: Jack the Sailor Date: 15 Nov 11 - 12:26 PM I'm not sure saying "Here! Take this beautiful, custom made shawl." is everyone's idea of bossy. I am getting very impatient about the picture. THIS is bossy!! SINSULL!!! Take the bloody picture!!!!! And POST it ASAP!!!! ;-) I want to see how she rendered your kittens. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: jacqui.c Date: 15 Nov 11 - 12:29 PM I've sent a couple of photos to Joe for publication. This one took quite a while - getting the cats right was a major concern. Alice, as could be expected, was the real problem (Who knew?) Her colouring was difficult to match and, as Mary said to me, it looks as if she has been doused with multi-coloured paint, making getting the markings anywhere near right a nightmare. In spite of the fact that, with hindsight, I could have made a better job of it I must admit that I was pleased with the finished result. Now we just have to hope that Alice doesn't take offence and pee all over it........... |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: GUEST,Mary Katherine Date: 16 Nov 11 - 12:46 PM Jacqui made me a lovely shawl/blanket/throw a couple of years ago - it's a copy of the sheet music to "Kendall's Reel" - which is treasured in my home office. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Nov 11 - 11:35 PM Jacqui, the artistry in these shawls (I scrolled through some of your other photos) is akin to stained glass windows. Truly remarkable. Incredibly unique. You are a treasure! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: kendall Date: 18 Nov 11 - 07:37 AM Oh yeah? well, I locked her up in the attic with a spinning wheel and she still cant make gold out of yarn! So there. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: SINSULL Date: 18 Nov 11 - 08:44 AM That's because you can only spin gold out of straw. Now get back down the CELLAR! and behave. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! From: jacqui.c Date: 18 Nov 11 - 10:44 AM Thanks for the compliments. The afghan base was made quite some time ago but had to sit and wait for the cross stitching to be done as I had no idea how I was going to get reasonable facsimiles of the cats, even though I had photos. It took quite a while before I really felt comfortable starting that work. I'm just happy that Mary was pleased. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! - Afghan From: katlaughing Date: 27 Nov 11 - 12:58 PM Thanks, Joe. That allowed me to enlarge in order to see the stitches more closely...still nothing I could do, but I like being able to see each stitch. Amazing! |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Mrs. Morse! - Afghan From: JohnInKansas Date: 28 Nov 11 - 12:15 PM Some here don't seem to understand that when the cat pees on something it's often a mark of true affection. We have one cat who truly loves her "mommy" so we're quite familiar with the mannerism. John |
