Subject: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,Looie the Lemur Date: 07 Nov 11 - 04:54 PM He didn't win. So I get nothin' for my vote. And why didn't he win? I'll tell ya why. Because there is collusion at the highest human levels to shut honest primates outta the political process. The media are complicit in that. How many of Chongo's speeches did you get to see on the MSM in 2008? Not too many, right? And did he get into the televised debates? Hell, no! They shut him out on a technicality, just like they did with Dennis Kucinich. We are not gonna see social justice until campaign financin' is taken outta the hands of rich human creeps and put into the hands of ordinary honest tree climbers like you and me...them that know what end of the banana is the end to peel from and which grapevine is strong enough to take the weight. |

Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Little Hawk Date: 07 Nov 11 - 11:05 PM Why not? Animals share our world, so why should they not get to vote on policy? |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 08 Nov 11 - 12:06 AM Whaddaya talkin' about, Looie? I saw lots of Chongo's speeches on TV in 2008. There were several on "Animal Planet", a couple on a National Geographic special about gorillas, and even one on a rerun of that Clint Eastwood move with the Orangutan in it. |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Rapparee Date: 08 Nov 11 - 08:48 AM I'll never forget his famous "Ook! Oook Ook! Ook!" speech. It was sooo exciting to see him stand on his knuckles like that! And the diaper he worn was just..so fashionable! |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,beardedbruce Date: 08 Nov 11 - 08:53 AM LH, re 11:05 post: How many votes would amoeba get? One for all of them, or one each? |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Bill D Date: 08 Nov 11 - 10:23 AM It says a-moeba, not all meobas. If it divides, each meoba would have to register and prove it was different. |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,Joe the Cheatah Date: 08 Nov 11 - 10:42 AM I am lobbying the Congress and White House for a no bid cost-plus contract to register single celled organisms as voters. Question if they come from elsewhere and split in the USA are both US citizens? Or just one? (which one?) or neither? |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,beardedbruce Date: 08 Nov 11 - 10:43 AM I thought the plural was amoeba, the singular was amoebum? |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 08 Nov 11 - 10:51 AM I hope not. Too many bums in politics already. |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Nov 11 - 11:53 AM I'm quite intrigued by your amoeba question, BB. I'm not sure how it should be sorted out, though. I think the best move (and the typical one) would be to set up a Congressional committee to thoroughly investigate the amoeba voting situation and submit their recommendations after 2 or 3 years of diligent (and costly) research and discussion. This would, naturally, be a bipartisan committee representing the best minds (cough! cough!) we can bring together from both sides of the House and the Senate. Both Democrats and Republicans have a serious stake in courting the votes of a few Quadrillion American amoebas, after all. No stone should be left unturned and no dollar left unspent to resolve this matter! The APP is also quite interested in the amoeba vote, so they will be doing their own separate investigation, and will present their findings at Duffy's Bar in Chicago, probably by around the end of this month. They will then forward those findings to Washington. Let's hope it gets resolved to everyone's satisfaction at least as soon as the War in Afghanistan does! ;-) And at a fraction of the price, I might add. |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 08 Nov 11 - 11:58 AM I was always taught the plural is amoebae, with the vowels joined together (can't do this on my keyboard). We're being racist about the Swine Flu virus. It should definitely have a vote. And fleas! |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Nov 11 - 12:15 PM Absolutely. Fleas are hopping mad that they don't have the vote yet. |

Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,beardedbruce Date: 08 Nov 11 - 03:08 PM LH, An additional question: Since Mayflies never reach a legal age to be able to vote, are they disenfranchised? I presume this would apply to any animal that did not live at least 18 years (according to current law). This actually answers the amoeba question- if they are "new" individuals upon fission, then they are not old enough to vote. But if they are still the same ( single) individual, then it is certainly old enough: in fact, the oldest living thing, I suspect. |
Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: GUEST,Chongo Chimp Date: 09 Nov 11 - 12:28 AM Naw....the oldest livin' thing is the crabby old woman who lives in the apartment below my office. She keeps callin' in noise complaints and makin' trouble for me. She looks like an old dried up prune that's been livin' on a diet of limes and bitters for a coupla centuries. If looks could kill, I'd'a been dead a long time ago. Just my luck havin' a neighbor like that. Humans. You can't live with 'em and there's practically no way left anymore to live without 'em. - Chongo |

Subject: RE: BS: I voted for Chongo, but.... From: BrooklynJay Date: 10 Nov 11 - 02:35 AM Once again, I am quite disheartened to find that Chongo has not been elected to any public office in my part of the Northeast. Mind you, I did my part. Even though the elections here were local, and would not have made much of a dent in the overall balance of power, I subscribed to that old adage, "Vote early, vote often!" But, even though I sent in hundreds of write-in votes, my candidate of choice was an also-ran. Our electoral system is broken, and needs fixin'. Chongo should have been up there, head and hirsute shoulders above the rest, and been a landslide winner. The sad fact is that too many people (at least in my neck of the woods) want to preserve the status quo. Chongo (diaper notwithstanding) would have been a breath of fresh air amid the foul miasma of Politics As Usual. When, oh when will America wake up?? Jay |
