And the kind folks there will sell you stones with Hebrew and other inscriptions on them. It's sad that all these Hebrew, Egyptian, Jewish, Welsh, Irish, and Viking visitors (I've probably missed a few out) to the USA suddenly evaporated just before Columbus arrived. |

The Mormons are about as keen as it gets when it comes to religious stuff, and have to be seriously open to out-there ideas with what their holy books say. For all that, they're not stupid though. There are a lot of people on the religious fringe (but don't ask me for a number) that make a big deal of places like this. It has been "positively proven" to be evidence of early Phoenician sailors shipwrecked in Texas, Solomon's fleet, early crypto-Jewish settlers in Spanish New Mexico, proto-Mormons and some kids playing silly-buggers back in the 1930s. It probably doesn't have any direct connection to the alien spaceship crash at Roswell - that is more than a hundred miles away - but who knows. It is known to predate Area 51. |
