Hello all,

A group started in Sheffield last term to sing folk songs and have a laugh and as we're about to start the new term I thought I'd see if anyone else wanted to join us. There is a workshop led by me where we learn folk songs in harmony, do some warm up and technique stuff followed by a singing session where anyone can come along and sing a few songs, join in on others' or just soak up the atmosphere. We are not a choir as such, it is all very informal and enjoyable, but people have said it helps with their singing

We meet at the University Arms (just behind the Information Commons) on 1st and 3rd Tues of the month at 7.30 upstairs for the workshop and from 9.30 downstairs for the session. It costs £2 for the workshop bit.

It's a very friendly group with no pressure and no audition or anything, we just want to get together and have a good sing. Come along and see what its all about, there are usually one or two new faces each time we meet and a load of regulars, there are men and women and the ages range from mid 20s to 60s so you won't be out of place whoever you are.

Get back to me if you want any more info, or to double check we are meeting, or I look forward to seeing you there if you just want to drop in,

All the best,

Fay

Can heartily recommend it.   I have managed to get to two and had a great time unfortunately I am bogged down with work and life in general so can't make it at the moment.

Rhiannon I think you are looking for Tony Heald!!

he still lives in Barnsley and is an excellent Artist and has a web site

Fay Hield among other things was one of the "Witches of Elswick"

Ah! Wrong spelling. Thanks, Ray.

We might make it to the Barnsley Easter fest. Do you need singaround hosts? And of course Mick would be available for a concert spot!

Thanks for the enthusistic comments!

For the record, I am one of the very few Hield's, and we are a dying breed, none left in my family now except me and mys siter and we've both named our children after their dads.

Ah well.

Happy singing, Fay
