Subject: Roberts & Webb forthcoming gigs in Cheshire From: Dave Roberts Date: 23 Jan 08 - 09:09 PM I think it's usual to preface this kind of post with 'blatant plug' or something of the sort. Can I just remind everyone of the following appearances by Roberts & Webb (AKA me and Bob)? We'll be at The Blue Bell in Smallwood this coming Monday (28th Jan) for our usual acoustic 'music and stories' thing, which has been going on for nearly a year now. An evening of traditional folk, skiffle, novelty and original new songs, all garnished with my own 'tales in verse' (we never use the word 'poetry' these days as it tends to imply that we're worthy intellectuals rather than just plain and simple entertainers). And on the 2nd February we're at the Boar's Head in Middlewich (the town's premier music venue) for something similar but electrified and featuring the debut of our percussionist Mr A Machin. Both these events are completely free and both start at precisely 8.32pm and thirty seven seconds GMT (synchronize your watches). As always, thank you for your time and we hope to see some of you at either (hopefully both) of these venues. |

Subject: RE: Roberts & Webb From: Charley Noble Date: 23 Jan 08 - 10:28 PM Dave- Are you suggesting that you and Bob Webb are performing together? If so, would this be our Bob Webb from Maine or some other Bob Webb? Life is very confusing with so many Bobs at large in this wide world. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: Roberts & Webb From: Dave Roberts Date: 24 Jan 08 - 03:05 AM Charley, This is the Bob Webb from Cheshire, so he probably comes under the heading of 'some other Bob Webb'. Those with long memories will remember him as the founder of Millers Thumb, the Cheshire folk group whose legendary 70s album 'Sitting On The Right Side' is still much sought after - copies have been known to change hands for up to £150 on the web. We've just put the finishing touches to a small book telling the story of Bob's musical career and the many bands he's been a part of. It should be published before too long. Thanks for your interest |

Subject: RE: Roberts & Webb From: Bat Goddess Date: 25 Jan 08 - 10:31 AM Hi, Dave! Wish we could get to see the two of you perform. Got a website? Tom and I are, of course, much more familiar with "our" Bob Webb (currently living in Maine, USA) but formerly of the west coast: maritime history scholar, duet concertina player, fine singer, etcet etcet. Cheers! Linn |

Subject: RE: Roberts & Webb From: Dave Roberts Date: 25 Jan 08 - 05:27 PM Hi Bat Goddess, How about an International Bob Webb Convention? Stranger things have happened. Here in the UK there's another Bob Webb (well, actually, he's a comedian called Robert Webb and part of Mitchell & Webb. And very good they are too). No doubt there are many more BWs in the entertainment business, too. You'll note that in Mitchell & Webb's case the Webb name comes second, as it does with R&W. I'm always rather diffident about my name being first in the line-up, because Bob is by far the most talented and experienced of the two of us. But, somehow, Roberts & Webb scans better than Webb & Roberts. That '&' seems to get in the way. Currently our website is: www.bobwebbmusic.com Many thanks for your interest. |
