Subject: Scott Skinner - copyright-free? From: Steve Shaw Date: 13 Jan 08 - 07:52 PM Could I record something like The Laird of Drumblair or The Music of Spey without worrying about copyright issues? I'm impossibly vague about these things. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Scott Skinner - copyright-free? From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 13 Jan 08 - 08:17 PM He died in 1927, so the bulk of his work is likely out of copyright. There may be other factors, though, so get advice from the appropriate regulatory authority in whatever country you live in. There are a great many previous discussions here on similar subjects which provide more information and contact details, together with the same basic advice. Most were started by people who probably genuinely wanted information and didn't understand how to use search engines, but I'm afraid that most of them just made themselves look cheap. |

Most previous discussions will come-up with an MC search of "Intellectual Property.
Got "hit" last Fallr. Or the owner of the venue "got hit" with a demand for payment for "Frank Sinatra" songs, aka "That's Amore"....owner of venue (from old USSR Ukraine)....refused and said, "it is extortion, this is why I came to America." We continued and have the blessings of the owner...singer and muscians are not using anything written we play/jam/compose according to the lead. Proud to be in the USA....(for the moment - until oportunity knocks again.)
Sincerely, |
