Subject: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 06 Dec 07 - 01:45 PM I've just found my Boxing day quiz from a few years ago. See what you can do with it. No answers in this thread please, if you pm your answers I'll put the marks on the 'leaderboard'. If needed I'll put some clues up in a few days, and then the answers. Each number stands for a colour, (no duplicates, though some may be similar shades). A letter stands for a word starting with that letter (capitals for names). To get you started..... l b 1 .... little boy blue r 2 b the 3 4 of T J in the 5 6s and 7s s the b of S C L the 8 the b of 9 10's 11 D D f and t 12b, b in a p the c that g the 13 There will be a special prize (maybe the 14 from my Christmas Stocking) for anyone who can work out the one I've forgotten the answer to the 15 c of d (or maybe C of D, or even c of D) I notice from preview, that Mudcat's letter l and number 1 are similar; other than the example there are no loweer case letter l s |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 06 Dec 07 - 02:57 PM 5 and a half so far.. I daresay more will come to me. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 06 Dec 07 - 04:07 PM I've remembered 15 should be the 15 c of D |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 06 Dec 07 - 04:35 PM None of them are purple are they? LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 06 Dec 07 - 05:04 PM That would be telling. Why don't you post some yourself. 16 -25 maybe. Any colour you like, not just purple. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: terrier Date: 06 Dec 07 - 06:55 PM I can only get 4 so far... is ultra violet a colour????? :') |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 07 Dec 07 - 05:15 AM Which question would that be an answer to, Terrier? I don't rule out the possibility that you may find alternative answers to mine (better even). Liz I'm not sure how you can get half a colour! So far.... Doug Chadwick 11/14 Liz 5.5 Terrier 4 Neil D 1 (but he and Doug share the special prize) |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 07 Dec 07 - 05:52 AM some of those have two colours in, I can guess one but can't get the other... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 07 Dec 07 - 06:22 AM I would have thought that if you know what the question is on about you would have found both colours (or shades, e.g. 'aubergine' counts as a different colour to 'green'). Anyway, if they have 2 colours they get 2 marks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 07 Dec 07 - 07:23 AM And, in case I've confused anyone, I'm not sure if the Ds in 10's 11 D D are names or not. |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 09 Dec 07 - 02:44 AM yes, 7 Liz As Liz has discovered (with just a little help), 4 IS a colour, but can BE many colours e.g 2 (the 2 4 of L), 3, 8, 15 (the 15 4 of Y), and several more of the colours mentioned above. We had one that claimed to be 11, but wasn't really. And 4 is claimed by many, and you can sing about the 4 of T, the 4 of A, as well as the 3,4 of (a different) T. Well, I promised you some clues, that should have confused you nicely. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Dec 07 - 04:34 AM Another 2 questions and a clue. The 16 p e Go t a R the o 17 g is d You may get help with several of the answers, including one that no-one has got, by consulting the o 17 g's Mother. |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Dec 07 - 05:37 AM Mo, if I ever knowingly meet you in person, I'm going to rip off one of your limbs and beat you with the soggy end! I'm claiming 14/17 so far, given that we've all been given the first one. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Dec 07 - 07:32 AM No-one has got the historic one yet, either. Though I've had various suggestions. Liz & Doug have got 11 of the first 14 (12/15 counting the first), and Liz has the last 2. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Dec 07 - 08:33 AM So which ones did I get wrong then? This is worse than school tests! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Dec 07 - 09:36 AM None, you got 11/14 +1 (that I gave you) + 2 (the new ones) Well alright, an extra one for a good alternative answer so only 2 or 3 to get. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: GUEST,Neil D Date: 10 Dec 07 - 11:57 AM You can give my half of the special prize to Doug. I feel like I just got lucky on 15 c of D since I haven't been able to figure out even one more since. |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Marilyn Date: 10 Dec 07 - 12:02 PM Hi Mo Just spotted this thread this afternoon - have PM'd what I've got so far. How am I doing? |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Dec 07 - 01:29 PM Marilyn has also only got 2 or 3 missing, she is the only person to get 10 & 11. Like Liz and Doug her answer to 9 was not the same as mine. (mine must have been wrong!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Marilyn Date: 11 Dec 07 - 04:34 AM Have PM'd you Mo with another attempt. Are we allowed to keep trying until we get them all (there's confidence for you!)? |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 11 Dec 07 - 05:00 AM Of course you can, I won't be cotent till every Mudcatter has got them all. But it seems that there are only 5 with my twisted brain, and only 3 of them with any persistence. Everyone else lacks the knowlegde needed (ornithology, history, geography, folk customs, songs, nursery rhymes) Help me with some hints. Liz ask if the D D in 10's 11 D D are names. What do you think Marilyn? I think he's singing it as a love song to D. But it could be like the D D in - Hey d d the c and the f. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 11 Dec 07 - 05:07 AM Only Liz has got 16 The 16 p e. It's a bit dated (is it 60's Liz)? What was it anyway? I've just looked at that last post. I can't spell, sorry! |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Marilyn Date: 11 Dec 07 - 05:09 AM Don't know really - I've certainly never heard of anyone called this D D so maybe the d d in the 'Hey d d the c and f' is more like it. Am off to pick up my sister now to do some Christmas shopping in Chester. Have sympathy (with the shopping in Chester not with spending the day with my sister - Mo has met her so she knows she's OK). No doubt I will have 'the b of 9' buzzing round in my head all day. Maybe sis can help - or is that cheating? |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Dec 07 - 05:25 AM I think that the 16 p e is the late '60s... I'm too young to remember! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 11 Dec 07 - 06:23 AM Yes I'm sypathetic about shopping in Chester, my (nonMudcat) daughter says its horrendous, even on a weekday. Northwich was OK yesterday, I went in reluctantly with a pair of broken glasses |

Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Dec 07 - 11:48 AM I'm still going to beat you with the soggy end of one of your own limbs... did you get my other submission for the b of 9? |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 12 Dec 07 - 05:03 AM Of course there could be two answers to 23, but Liz has used one of them, sort of. how about 5 g the 24s. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Liz the Squeak Date: 12 Dec 07 - 05:13 AM And nothing to do with anniversaries... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 12 Dec 07 - 07:09 AM Since Liz isn't putting scores up I claim 4/5 (and a reasonable alternative) on her qs |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 13 Dec 07 - 03:33 AM I would give you your scores if I were anywhere near a computer that will a) let me log on as me and not a guest and b) work. You're doing pretty well though and 4/5 is about right. I may post an alternative to the one that people are sticking on if I find one! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: Mo the caller Date: 13 Dec 07 - 05:53 AM My daughter's suggesting for Liz's 21 duplicates one of my colours. This could be revenge for Little boy blue. Or not the right answer. |
Subject: RE: BS: Quiz - colours From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 13 Dec 07 - 06:07 AM It's not the right answer, because it's not a colour you have used. Try W g 21's i t s a LTS |
