Subject: Origins: Down in the forest, underneath the trees From: GUEST,Ewan McVicar Date: 27 Nov 07 - 05:55 PM One of the Glasgow group The Clutha told me once that he had been watching a Laurel and Hardy film on TV. A cowboy wandered on and sang 'Down in the forest, underneath the trees'. The tune was the one used for the Glasgow anthem 'Doon in the wee room, underneath the stair'. I have checked an exhaustive book on Laurel and Hardy films, but no trace of this song. Can anyone enlighten me? Maybe it was not L&H he saw. |
