Subject: BS: Introductions From: Goldrush Paul Date: 22 Oct 07 - 03:48 AM Hi everyone I just thought I would introduce myself. I have a keen interest in folklore and mythology. I have been a Pagan for many many years and have attended a couple of festivals. My partner is more of a 'folkie' than I am but I am hoping to go to more folk festivals next year with my son and check out the scene so to speak!. I know a number of people on this site where various worlds over lap and I have only heard good things about here so I thought I would join. My partner collects folk songs and folk music and sings to our son. I'm hoping that I can pluck up the courage to learn a few songs (not of the rugby variety) and sing in public too. Paul |

Subject: RE: BS: Introductions From: Folkiedave Date: 22 Oct 07 - 12:02 PM Welcome from South Yorkshire. (If you see someone walking along with wallpaper under their arm, chances are they are moving house and taking their wallpaper with them.) South Yorkshire has a totally undeserved reputation for meanness. |

Subject: RE: BS: Introductions From: Bee Date: 11 Nov 07 - 11:34 AM As Bobert sez, and don't mind the occasional stinks. You do know, I hope, that it is possible to not be a Pagan and still be interested in folk music, folklore and festivals. No offense, but I often hear the most egregious fakelore spouting from the lips of self-named pagans. That said, there are a few other Pagans here, along with Lutherans, Anglicans, Catholics, Quakers, assorted Baptists and other protestant types, and a few of us unchurched, unshriven, and unblessed-be-ed Agnostics and Atheists. We mostly try not to let such things inhibit our enjoyment of each other's music and stories. |
