Subject: Karen Dalton From: GUEST,Jim Date: 05 Oct 07 - 12:57 PM I have two Karen Dalton recordings and I love her voice. Only two of the cuts; however, feature her great clawhammer banjo. Are there any other examples of Karen's banjo playing available? |

Subject: RE: Karen Dalton From: Dave Sutherland Date: 05 Oct 07 - 04:18 PM "Cotton Eyed Joe The Loop Tapes" - Live in Boulder 1962 has just been released in UK a month ago. A double CD of Karen's live performances. Easy listening? no - A true record of the early days of the US folk scene? priceless. Let me know if you would like more details. |

Subject: RE: Karen Dalton - seeking banjo recordings From: topical tom Date: 06 Oct 07 - 10:39 AM I would suggest "The Banjo Monologues" with Joel Mabus. Also, any recordings by Eric Weissberg, though I could not find many (duelling banjos, of course). He is truly one of the greatest banjo players of today.Incidently, Joel Mabus's work is very humorous as well. Hope this is of some help. |

Subject: RE: Karen Dalton - seeking banjo recordings From: GUEST,Jim Date: 06 Oct 07 - 11:06 AM DaveS - I'd love to learn more about "Cotton Eyed Joe The Loop Tapes". I live in Canada, so it may be unavailable to me. topical tom - I've heard Joel Mabus and have many recordings with Eric Weisberg on them, though on most of them he plays bass or mandolin. He was the original mandolin player in the Greenbriar Boys. My title wasn't too clear. I'm seeking samples of Karen Dalton playing the banjo. |
