Subject: Lyr Req: ?Road to Sligo From: Celtaddict Date: 22 Aug 07 - 05:55 PM Okay, this one may be a stretch. There is a song heard on the radio in the late 60s, learned (partly) in Chicago. The chorus goes So come back to Sligo, And you go where I go, And we'll go together da da da da da On the road down the country da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da. Does this ring any bells? My good friend, an Irish singer from Connemara, has been looking for this for years but does not use a computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Subject: Lyr Add: ROAD TO SLIGO From: Jim Dixon Date: 12 Dec 09 - 11:19 PM Found on YouTube: ROAD TO SLIGO As sung by Folkstone 1. On the road into Sligo I heard a bird singing, But I had no joy in his music at all, For my heart was in Galway, along with my lover, And over my rover I let bitter tears fall. CHORUS: Oh, come back to Sligo, and I'll go where you'll go, And we'll go together when I am your own. All the roads of the country we'll travel forever, And never again will I weep all alone. 2. On the road into Sligo, with beauty about me, The mountain, the valley, the wide waterfall, But all I could see was a grey road in Galway, And him swinging down it, so handsome and tall. 3. On the road into Sligo I met happy people, All coming and going from meek little homes. On the road into Sligo my heart stood in ruins, But out of the ashes a new dream was born. |
