Subject: BS: Irak triumphs From: ard mhacha Date: 29 Jul 07 - 03:04 PM Surely the greatest fairytale win ever, Iraq the gallant outsiders in the Asian Cup defied the odds to beat Saudi Arabia 1-0,on the way to their great win they defeated Australia the favourites. Considering they had to play all of their matches in neutral countries this make this unlikely win all the better. This war torn country has at last something to be happy about,Asian Cup winners for the first time, well done. |

Subject: RE: BS: Iraq triumphs From: Donuel Date: 30 Jul 07 - 04:05 AM Iraq got a new $500 million electric generator! But the unskilled labor in place of the former middle class workers put in the wrong fuel and the generator is now a total loss. Oh well they still have some soccer players it seems. |

Subject: RE: BS: Iraq triumphs From: ard mhacha Date: 30 Jul 07 - 07:14 AM PMB,the Australian FA, entered the Asian championship , it was on the sound basis that it would involve less travelling, and they also were of the opinion that their team had every chance of winning. That is until they were soundly beaten by the eventual champions Iraq. |

Subject: RE: BS: Iraq triumphs From: robomatic Date: 30 Jul 07 - 09:24 AM It will be interesting if the Iraqis and their neighbors can draw some inspiration from the fact that their successful team was composed of Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds. |

Subject: RE: BS: Iraq triumphs From: Wolfgang Date: 30 Jul 07 - 09:37 AM But when was Australia moved to asia? The main reason for this move is the qualification for the world cup. Asia has four places in the finals, but the winner of the qualification in Oceania has to play number four of the South American qualification and that was mostly (not last time) too diffficult for Australia. Australia was eliminated in the quarter finals of the Asia-Cup by Japan, BTW. They had qualified for the quarter finals despite being beaten by Iraq during the group phase of the finals. Wolfgang |
