Subject: RE: It's Easy to Bluff - Acoustic Guitar From: PoppaGator Date: 20 Jul 07 - 01:29 PM I tried the link, and got "page cannot be found." So I did a few searches. What I learned: This is one of a series of "How to Bluff ~ [x] Guitar" books, marketed in the US under the slightly different title(s) "How to Fake..." There are books on Blues Guitar and Metal Guitar as well as Acoustic Guitar, and probably others as well. Two customer reviews of "How to Fake Acoustic Guitar" on (US) Amazon offered polar-opposite reactions. One lengthy and very positive review, and one brief dismissal. What I gleaned from the two is that the "acoustic" book (and presumably the others as well) includes plenty of humor and is undoubtedly entertaining, but that it may or may not include enough actual guitar instruction to be worth the price. I consider myself a fairly accomplished acoustic guitar player who still could stand to learn some new tricks. (I play much better in some keys than others, much better in standard tuning than any other, etc.) I'd be very curious to skim through a book like this, have a laugh or two, and discern whether or not it contained anything worth further study on my part. But I wouldn't buy it sight unseen. |

Subject: RE: It's Easy to Bluff - Acoustic Guitar From: Scorpio Date: 21 Jul 07 - 08:35 PM A while back, I bought the 'Rock' and 'Blues' vols of the series. The tabs are a great introduction to the licks and riffs needed for my sudden enthusiasm for the electric guitar. See new thread 'El -guitar for acoustic player'. |
