Subject: RE: BS: Tube Derailment in London - are you ok? From: The Walrus Date: 05 Jul 07 - 11:31 AM Lunchtime news reported that the only 'major' injury was a sprained ankle. The same programme reported the tale that the cause of the crash was a roll of tarpaulin being used in maintainance falling across the track. It would appear that the tarpaulin which had been secured* in a side passage-way, had been shaken loose by a combination of vibration and the wind caused by the passage of earlier trains. The above is, as yet, unsubstantiated and a report released after the investigation. Walrus. * One would presume improperly. |

I was at work early so I'd been at my desk some time before it even happened. Some of my colleagues were stuck for 2 hours and had to walk along the track to get out. LTS |

From: JennyO Date: 06 Jul 07 - 01:18 AM We had our own bit of excitement with the Sydney trains yesterday, as gale force winds ripped a hatch cover off a train on the Harbour Bridge and brought down power lines. The place was in chaos for hours. Nobody hurt though. Article is here - Another oh-no moment as trains suffer wind once more And here's a picture of the event. |
