Chris Andreeti died on friday of lung cancer near his home in Roscommon, he was aged 66 -I think -
Chris was an extraordinary singer who spent most of his life busking and playing fantastic great music in various bands . He was in the Peelers with Mick o'Connor , with kevin Burke and Tom maddon in Lazy Reel (of which there are no known recordings - a great pity ) He also spent some time in San francisco playing with the Mild Colonial Boys. I met him in Amsterdam in the late 70's and have remained in touch. A man of huge heart and beautiful chocolaty voice and a fine harmony singer to boot. I'll miss him.

Chris was responsible for writing the air to a wonderful song - Ballyroan - Delorous Keane recorded it ( not well unfortunately ) My favourite song to sing -

His funeral was today - God bless him !

Martin

Good grief, I've not seen him for about 30 years!
Lazy Reel was a very fine band.
RIP Chris.

Very sad to hear that Chris Andreeti has died. It's thirty years since I've seen him as well but he was a fine man indeed. Full of life and good humour though I know he had his darker moments. I saw quite a lot of him in London in the seventies and those days are very fond memories. I do have some good cassette recordings of him singing back then, both with Lazy Reel and with a Dutch lady called Miriam. I can probably arrange to make copies for anyone who knew him well, I'm sure he would'nt have minded.( I guess I'd have to check with Kevin Burke first on the Lazy Reel tapes). Does anyone know what happened to Tom Maddon? Andy

Hey, I'd like to hear Lazy Reel again if you can manage to organise a tape or CD.
Tom Madden (so I've heard) is living in Kilburn but not playing at all.

It makes me very sad to hear this news.

Rest Easy Chris, you will be sorely missed.
You are one of the finest.
With Love
Jude

Hi there,

I'd love to hear Lazy reel and I'm curious about the tape with Miriam as I also plyed with them both - mainly in the Dam.

As to Tom Maddon , he's living in Ireland now and was at the funeral. I was talking to Annie - Chris's partner and she said there were miles of cars all down the road.
There's a gig for Chris happening on the 26th near to where he lived in Cootehall , roscommon. proceeds to the hospice he died in . I unfortunately am gigging all week end so can't go .

I also have a cd that Chris did a couple of years ago with some lovely songs that had been his favourites over the years . recorded by Liam Cunningham . I'm sure there won't be a problem if anyone would like a copy. Maybe a donation to the hospice.

I really miss him.

Martin
