Subject: what ´s in the cdplayer over the Easter From: skarpi Date: 05 Apr 07 - 10:14 AM Good evening all , I was wandering about what´s in you´r cd player over the Easter weekend ? , in my cd player is at the moment as we write this " Sharon Shannon " and I will enjoy playing Irish and music from Norway ( Folk ) over the weekend along with looking into some books and work a little in my house . So Happy Easter all take care of you self, rest enjoy in peace and love god bless , All the best Skarpi Iceland. P.S would it be any interest to listen to old Icelandic very old folk music witch was only sanged in the old days ? But this time it would be with Instruments , becouse this is what my band has been doing , I sang some of this old songs at the Getaway when I was there last time in my half hour concert. If so I hope the next cd of " Our Rose " is going to be this way. |

The first is John Barden's CD (The Barden of England on Mudcat) "Head for the Hills", from which I am currently preparing two songs for recording, with John's kind permission (he really is the nicest guy you could hope to meet). The second is "The Edge of the Marsh" by Maureen Jones. All about life on the verge of Romney Marshes in Kent, England, it is a tour de force by one of the finest unsung songwriters in the UK today, and like John one of the most generous with permission to use her original material. Buy this ! Tom Bliss "Mixed Moss" - Excellent songs. There's a wonderful one called "Needle & Thread" and another: "Rue" Buy this one, too ! The Halliard - "The Last Goodnight" AND buy this ! Original BBC Radio recording of "Under Milk Wood", to learn Polly Garter's song (going to be singing it in this play soon) And lastly, completely different: Peter Skellern, "Astaire" - great songs to sing along to while I'm working (e.g Puttin' on the Ritz) and always guaranteed to keep me cheerful. Subject: RE: what ´s in the cdplayer over the Easter From: Dave'sWife Date: 05 Apr 07 - 11:26 PM My husband keeps listening to that Beatles Circus CD "LOVE" over and over again. it's growing on me except at the beginning of 'Here Comes the Sun' there is a sound like an air raid siren that reminds me of the scary noise in the Silent Hill Playstation game that signifies the bad monsters are coming to kill you. Therefore, I always stop what I'm doing and look to see if it's suddenly getting foggy and dark. |

Here at my computer, some new CD's I just ordered: Norwegian folk music (on fiddle, jaw harp, accordian); some Welsh music played on the crwth; Austrian zither music; The Andy Statman Klezmer Orchestra; Troy Fernandez, a Hawaiian ukelele virtuoso; and a collection of field recordings of traditional Sicilian dance music. |

My Ian Tyson appreciation began way back in the 60s with Ian & Sylvia and I just started picking up his solo cowboy/western stuff later.
