Subject: camping at fylde From: stevep Date: 17 Mar 07 - 04:14 PM Can any of the regulars at the Fylde festival tell us about the camping arrangments? Is the site a good one? Far from the venues? Thanks |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: Dave the Gnome Date: 17 Mar 07 - 04:26 PM Very good site, flat and easy to pitch a tent. Right near the sea and well sheltered. Opposite end of the prom from the Marine Hall. About 15 minutes walk but there is a free bus at busy times. Facilities limited to toilets and washing but ticket holder get free use of the facilities at the leisure centre next to the Marine Hall. Good food in the food marquee. Biggest problem is the weather - which no-one can predict. 5 years of excellent stuff followed by the torrential floods of last year! Hope this helps Dave |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: s&r Date: 18 Mar 07 - 03:52 AM Stewarded through the weekend, night security, resident steward in van on site. We have a tent hang gliding competition for the tents that aren't pegged down securely. As Dave says - easy to pitch, but worth using plenty of pegs for the sea breeze because the soil is sandy. Shops about ten minutes walk. Easy parking in Fleetwood if you'd rather drive between places. Stu |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: muppitz Date: 18 Mar 07 - 09:46 AM Great festival! However last year's festival saw the demise of the Moor & Coast marquee, they just about made it to the end of the season after that but Glen's had to invest in a new one as the damage was too much for it to last another year. That weekend I stopped being on drinks duty and had to be on 'Hold on to the damn thing' duty! muppitz x |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 18 Mar 07 - 11:33 AM And it's all dead level walking. Think Whitby ironed out. If Moor and Coast aren't there, there's a hut next to the site which does great breakfasts. |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: folk1e Date: 18 Mar 07 - 05:13 PM There is a good caravan area as well! Don't use wire pegs if you are camping! Unless you want to enter the competition. Festival is one of the best in the country! Go there!Sing songs! Drink beer!...... Enjoy!! |

Subject: RE: camping at fylde From: dick greenhaus Date: 18 Mar 07 - 07:42 PM It's a lovely campsite, but avoid it if there's foul weather. Last year, pitching and using a tent not only had aspects of hang gliding, but added the joys of a icy sitz bath. It's what one might expect from a largely unprotected peninsula. Fine festival, though. |
