Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Limbs From: Severn Date: 13 Feb 07 - 04:02 PM Damn! First I had to miss Venus Di Milo at Lewes Arms (now in recovery, but will be back performing accapella as Inter-Venus Di Milo), and now I have to miss Andrew & Ms. Carole (an absolutely disarming pearl-on-the-half-shell herself, as well) at the same venue because, much like Bill & Rita, I'm a bit out of range. It's not exactly a range I'm at home on as it probably has more than two and a half notes, so I tend to miss most everything from that far. I'd sure like to be there, and if it weren't for the cursed ocean, I certainly wouldn't miss it for all the steak in Salisbury! O, were I but borne to Lewes...... Good luck! Sounds like a fine show! |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: GUEST,Annie Date: 13 Feb 07 - 06:28 PM Carole & Andrew have a good night. Sorry i can't be there - I'll be in Sidmouth too! See you at Miskin. |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: SINSULL Date: 13 Feb 07 - 06:56 PM I wish I could be there - I request Butterflies and the spooky/sad song about the scarecrow. SINS |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Splott Man Date: 14 Feb 07 - 04:01 AM I like to join the chorus of people who won't be there. However, have a great night both, you'll be well looked after. Splott man |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Cats Date: 14 Feb 07 - 05:07 PM If you can't see them there we know they are coming to Fox and Hounds so you won't have to wait until Miskin. Try and get there, it's worth it. |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Barry Finn Date: 15 Feb 07 - 12:54 AM Well I won't be making it to the Fox & Hounds either but I'll be at the Lewes Arms in spirit. It's a lot cheaper for me in spirit to be making an ocean crossing than in the flesh. Damn I've gotta figure out how to get my body over there, I'm just missing out on hearing a lot of fine folks. Andrew & Carole have a blast & thanks for the card. Hopefully we'll see you again in November. LOL Barry |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: GUEST,Brian Date: 15 Feb 07 - 06:27 AM Cats. Sorry to have to remind you when your own weekend is, but Miskin is in April, F&H is in May. Or do they run the year tuther way round down your way? see yer at F&H, if not sooner! Brian |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Hawker Date: 15 Feb 07 - 06:35 AM Brian! I was just about to say that!!!!!!! Cats, Hows things? & How are the solar panels coming along? Cheers, Lucy |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Cats Date: 16 Feb 07 - 04:38 AM Hawker ~ My brain is addled. You are quite right Fox is May, Miskin is April. Things are seriously upside down. Panels are going in well, but arranging the funeral and closing up the house is hectic. I don't seek to know what day it is. Jon's bearing up well. |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: jacqui.c Date: 17 Feb 07 - 12:47 PM I'm hoping to get there, coming down from Newark that day. |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Herga Kitty Date: 18 Feb 07 - 12:45 PM Carole and Andrew - I don't suppose there's any chance of your making the MBS Sunday sing.........? If it's any consolation, anyone who's going to Padstow won't be at the Lewes Arms for my night (28 April). Hope to see/ hear you both somewhere soon, anyway. Kitty |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: GUEST Date: 18 Feb 07 - 02:29 PM By the way, Andrew, thanks for posting a helpful message on Greene King's 'I Pledge Allegiance to the Great British pub' message board about the forcible removal of Harveys Best Bitter from the Lewes Arms. The background is that Greene King, who own the pub and live in Suffolk, have removed Harveys beer, which is brewed in Lewes, from the Lewes Arms, which is also in Lewes, costing a lot of unnecessary 'beer miles' and causing a great deal of distress to the Harveys-dependent hop-based life forms of the front bar, who have all fled to other hostelries and set up an organised resistance movement. Greene King have set up a message board (http://www.ipledgeallegiance.co.uk/pledge_forum/list.php?1) which is subtitled 'Missing your mates down your local and fancy a bit of bar room banter?' Oddly enough this is getting flooded with irate and nostalgic messages from former Lewes Arms regulars despite the administrators attempts to remove them. This isn't really the place for a prolonged discussion of the subject, but anyone who's interested can PM me. Tootle pip, Valmai |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Crane Driver Date: 18 Feb 07 - 02:40 PM Always willing to help As for the gig, at least we seem to have one person attending (and Jacqui lives in Maine - see, it's not that far, guys ;-} ) Lookin' forward to seeing you (Mind you, Carole says that if the Harveys is off, she might not come either!) Should we bring some Ffelinfoel in case? Andrew |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Herga Kitty Date: 18 Feb 07 - 06:25 PM Ffelinfoel in firkin? Kitty |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Barry Finn Date: 19 Feb 07 - 04:21 AM I was planning but Jacqui's suitcase was so small. Barry |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: TRUBRIT Date: 19 Feb 07 - 10:54 PM Barry - you are in the same time zone I am and in my time zone it is 10.50 (ish) on Feb 19 so how is your post timed at 4.21 am on Feb 19-- have I missed a movement in the march of time .... or what? (you could probably have fitted in Jacqui's suitcase if you had really tried.............; Jacqui -- please by me a CD of Carol and Andrew with Dead Reckoning on it.......I have the cd box but - alas - no cd inside it..... pay you back on your return.....?) |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Barry Finn Date: 19 Feb 07 - 11:23 PM I'm still in your zone Deb. I was up late posting. We may have crossed & connected in the dreamtime, hope it happens again sometime. I'll have to go sleep on that one. See ya Barry |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: TRUBRIT Date: 19 Feb 07 - 11:31 PM That would be nice. You'd be welcome at the Song Circle this weekend......? |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: TRUBRIT Date: 19 Feb 07 - 11:36 PM Barry--I just worked it out -- you were posting super early THIS AM (or late yesterday ....) - sorry, age makes the brain addled...... |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Barry Finn Date: 20 Feb 07 - 12:21 AM Actually, yes, it was early this morning, to early for me to figure out to. I can never plan that far in advance. Thanks, I'd love to make it but I'll have to wait until the last minute. Sigh. What's addled got to do with age? Barry |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: TRUBRIT Date: 20 Feb 07 - 12:23 AM Not sure -- but in England we always referred to elder brains (like mine ) as addled when not fully functioning. When I saw your post was quite convinced you were posting from another time dimension -- it took me a while to work out it was 4 am THIS morning but then that is a time of day (or night) with which I am not familiar........ |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: pavane Date: 20 Feb 07 - 02:32 AM Best wishes for the gig. I'm sure it will be a great night. But I can't get there from Amsterdam! Neil |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: GUEST,Valmai Goodyear Date: 21 Feb 07 - 06:52 AM Just a follow-up to my post quoted below: Greene King have now scrubbed all specifically pro-Harveys posts from the message board and mangled the names 'Harveys' and 'Lewes Arms' wherever they appear. But you can still write H-A-R-V+E+Y+S, for example, should you want to. Valmai (Lewes) Date: 18 Feb 07 - 02:29 PM By the way, Andrew, thanks for posting a helpful message on Greene King's 'I Pledge Allegiance to the Great British pub' message board about the forcible removal of Harveys Best Bitter from the Lewes Arms. Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Crane Driver Date: 25 Feb 07 - 06:44 PM Well, we're back home after a most enjoyable weekend in Sussex - despite the absence of Harveys Beer at the pub (ably compensated for by the delightful Valmai). We hope everyone who made it to the Lewes Arms (despite everything, there was a good turnout) enjoyed the evening as much as we did. We're looking forward to the rematch! Andrew & Carole |
Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: jacqui.c Date: 25 Feb 07 - 07:22 PM I certainly enjoyed the evening very much. Good songs and a lovely atmosphere. The journey back to Streat was interesting in the heavy downpour! |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Barry Finn Date: 25 Feb 07 - 07:30 PM You made it Jacqui. That's fan loyality. Glad a good timewas had by all. I was there in spirit & I'll tell you, I would've loved to had been there in person. Jacqui's suitcase was to small! Barry |

Subject: RE: SussexCarole & Crane Driver @ Lewes Arms From: Charley Noble Date: 25 Feb 07 - 08:45 PM The idea of Barry Finn as checked luggage ... the mind buggles.
