Subject: Lyr Req: music req Dancing with Bears From: Vixen Date: 19 Nov 06 - 06:19 PM D'Cats-- Reynaud and I played a birthday party gig today, and received a request for "Dancing with Bears." We've heard of it, and heard it, but neither one of us knows it. I just searched the DT and forum (always my first place to look, and usually my last) but found nothing. A google search turned up the full title, "My Uncle Walter Goes Dancing with Bears" but no lyrics. Will someone please point us to the lyrics and a recording??? Thanks in advance-- Mudcats are the best! Vixen and Reynaud |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: music req Dancing with Bears From: open mike Date: 19 Nov 06 - 06:50 PM i just heard a new verse to this one today on the radio ablut uncle walter's wife, Aunt Matilda who altered her fur coat so she could get a dance with Walter--and he would never know. "He's waltzing with Pandas, he won't understand us, the bears all demand at least one waltz a day..." I sang this just last night...!! Rosalie Sorrels sings this.. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: music req Dancing with Bears From: Jeri Date: 19 Nov 06 - 07:15 PM I bet you're looking for a sound file/recording of the tune. Just a wild guess. I found a small (one verse and chorus) MP3 file at Tom Hanford's website, and here are the words in the DT |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: music req Dancing with Bears From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 19 Nov 06 - 11:30 PM MP3 file linked above at Tom Hanford's website HTTP404 - The page cannot be found also - via backtracking... 403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /mp3/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ----------------------- Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.tomhanford.com Port 80 http://www.tomhanford.com/songs.html gets to his songs "Waltzing with Bears" link (as well as the other links to mp3s) at that page contains a Javascript link (left click only!) to a popup player window. Right clicking on the links in that window will work to save the MP3 files. This sort of hassle is common - so giving a direct url link to a an mp3 file is often not useful for novices - as you can see I have had some experience with this sort of thing... |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Dancing with Bears / Waltzing with Bears From: Mick Tems Date: 26 Nov 06 - 06:24 AM Further to Dame Pattie's message, Bayou Seco are based in Silver City, New Mexico, US - I was organising for Llantrisant Folk Club, and I booked Ken and Jeanie and booked them again! Mike Greenwood knew of them, and he dearly wanted to see Bayou Seco at our club. Waltzing With Bears was a high spot, and I well remember Ken's luxuriant beard covering his face! Not a bad little combo! |
