Subject: Rapper dancing on the radio From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 13 Nov 06 - 07:38 AM I came home at about 12.15 and turned on the radio (BBC Radio 4 - You and Yours) to find they had the Newcastle Kingsmen on - should be available on 'Listen Again'. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 13 Nov 06 - 08:04 AM Dancing of any sort in a Radio is only recommended for those old fashioned solid wood Radiograms! And stay off the taps too! |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 13 Nov 06 - 08:10 AM The pictures were better on Steam Radio! |
|
Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Bunnahabhain Date: 13 Nov 06 - 08:14 AM It's an occasional feature in the generally unbearable You and Yours, where they go to Pubs with interesting people and histories. They're always looking for more places to visit, so suggest one. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Nov 06 - 09:58 AM Soon that'll be the only place WITH a pub the way things are going.... LTS |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Scrump Date: 13 Nov 06 - 10:02 AM I don't like rappers much - all that repetitive stuff delivered in a monotone isn't my idea of music. And I suppose the dancing they do will be break dancing or whatever they call it these days? No sir, I don't think I'll be tuning in to that. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: GUEST,Rich Date: 13 Nov 06 - 10:13 AM They were actually doing the Grenoside longsword dance to start with. Not from the Northeast at all. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Paul Burke Date: 13 Nov 06 - 10:30 AM It's northeast of here. But I didn't know those swords were m=eant for genocide. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Bunnahabhain Date: 13 Nov 06 - 07:01 PM And they have 25 people playing Marie's Wedding on Ukalele (sp?) and are calling it a folk session in the same programme! Trust the BBC to get every little detail just right... |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: JohnInKansas Date: 13 Nov 06 - 07:46 PM ...dancing on the radio ???? I guess Edgar Bergen did become famous as a ventriloquist via radio shows. He was much less impressive when TV appeared, although we all still liked Charlie and Mortimer I suppose. John |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 13 Nov 06 - 08:54 PM As I said John, the pictures were better on Radio, cause they were in our OWN heads, and our OWN pictures. The reason why The Goon Show failed miserably when the very short run TV season was attempted - with puppets... I wonder if the 'pictures' are better with 'Traditional Folk Music;, because they 'draw' (sorry) on pictures in our own heads, whereas 'Commercial Rock/Pop' tends to recyle a very limited set of simple images? Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Nov 06 - 02:55 AM Not so sure about the pictures with traditional folk music and rock.. they all seem to be about shagging, just in different locations (Harley Davidsons instead of Massey Fergusson....). LTS |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: GUEST,Geoff the Duck and Massey Ferguson Date: 14 Nov 06 - 05:38 AM Of course Born to be Wild was based on an old traditional English song. Get your engine spluttering. Pull out on the country lane. Looking for adventure. And whatever comes that way. Ooh Arr we're going to make it clog up. Make the townies get as mad as hell. Knock the switch on the Muck Spreader, and Watch out for the smell! Like a true country child We will make you go wild. In your cars behind me you'll be tailing back for mi-i-iles Pull out of the farm gate. Siting on your tractor. Watch the buggers Queueing 'Til you turn into a field. Can you hear all their horns a bleating I can't, I've got my ear muffs on (Industrial ear protectors as specified in health and safety at work, but that don't scan) As soon as I'm off the road, then The cars are all gone. Like a true country child. I was born to be wild. 'Cause sitting on this tractor gives me piles... Born to be Wi-i-i-ild Quack!! GtD, |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Folkiedave Date: 14 Nov 06 - 05:44 AM Sheffield City Morris's first ever dance in public was on Radio Sheffield. A solo jig by Howard Beckford. Some people reckon it should have stayed on radio instead of annoying decent law-abiding folk. We used to mek us own fun in them days. |

Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 14 Nov 06 - 06:54 AM "Sheffield City Morris's first ever dance in public was on Radio Sheffield. A solo jig by Howard Beckford. " Lots of clacking, jingling, heavy breathing and and grunting, I suppose. Only NEEDS one - but at least two is probably MUCH more fun... |
|
Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Folkiedave Date: 14 Nov 06 - 05:29 PM Also on the programme was a Scottish Pipe Band. Much more suitable for radio. However morris/rapper dancing on radio is no dafter than "Educating Archie" having a ventriloquist's dummy as the star of a radio programme. |
|
Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Nov 06 - 06:09 PM It is when one dancer forgets their bells.... Albion Morris on 'Morris On' spring (well, these days it's more creak) to mind. LTS |
|
Subject: RE: Rapper dancing on the radio From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 14 Nov 06 - 06:13 PM Then you'd end up with just the heavy breathing and and grunting, I suppose. oooooooooooooooooooooo..... |
