It's hard to believe that I read about the first Open Door Extravaganza on Mudcat way back in October 2001, and ended up becoming part of the organisation of the club!!

Well, Sunday October 15th 2006 sees Extravaganza 11 at the Open Door!

Now we meet at the Royal Oak, there isn't enough room in our Club Room to run our Extravaganza in its previous format, so we remove all the tables and set out concert-style seating. This means there will be limited tickets available (12 quid each!), but there may be an extra seat or two available on the day.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets only guarantee admission to a concert if you arrive before the guest starts their first spot (i.e. during the Club Floor Spot or before). After then, any empty seats will be filled if there are people waiting.

There will be a FREE all day singaround in one of the other rooms, so why not come along for the singaround if you're not interested in the concerts?!

Food will also be available, in the form of filled barms and hotpot - with vegetarian options, too.

I suppose you want to know who's booked?

Th'Antique Roadshow, Alan Reid & Rob van Sante, and Pete Coe!

Something there for everyone!

For more details either visit the website, or ring John and Pauline on 0161 681 3618.

I'll try to keep this thread updated with any late breaking news.

See you there?

Bernard

Alan Reid is the backbone of the Battlefield Band, and rarely tours
without them.
Also, Th'Antique Roadshow are splitting up soon, so this could be
your last chance to see them.

I forgot to mention...

The current edition of Ali O'Brien's Sounds of Folk (programme 11, coincidentally!) on Radio Britfolk showcases the Open Door Extravaganza...

It's online this week, though it was really scheduled for next week... Click to listen!

Looking forward to it!

Previous extravaganzas have always been well staged and supported.

The Open Door website is temporarily inacessible, and Orange (Wanadoo, Freeserve, or whatever their name is this week!) haven't replied to tell me why yet.

I can FTP the site okay, but maybe they have changed the web access name... who knows?

Looks like a fab w/end in prospect. Unfortunately can't make it (again - doh!) cos i'll be in Brum (works conference - yawn!) but anyone who's thinking of going, the extravaganzas are well worth a visit and need the support. Pauline, John & Bernard do a brill job so anyone in Failsworth, Manchester surrounding areas do try and get there. Best wishes

Sorry you can't make it, Vin... erm... have you had the 'flu recently?!! Or an allergic reaction to water...?!! I believe Robinsons' Ales are excellent medication in such circumstances!

Will have to Miss again Bernard, I'm afraid you're clashing with Banbury Folk Festival this time. Shame, really enjoyed your Extravaganza's - have a good one!!

Not long now...!

Sorry if you had trouble accessing the website earlier this week (it was inaccessible Sat, Sun and Mon), it would seem that Orange have resolved whatever problem they had, but have chosen not to reply to my query regarding same... ho hum!

Correction! Orange have sent me a belated email to enquire if the issue has been satisfactorily resolved. In effect they've admitted something was wrong, which is very good to hear.

Their customer service seems, therefore, to be somewhat better than Freeserve and Wanadoo used to be... I only ever had automated responses referring me to the FAQ page.

My temptation to jump ship and find another ISP has proved unnecessary!

DON'T FORGET THE EXTRAVAGANZA TOMORROW!

Changing circumstances mean that I can now attend. No doubt this one will be at least as enjoyable as previous years
