Nope. Definately not either a rap song or the mingulay boat song.

It comes from the Battlefield Band's album rain Hail or Shine

aritten by Davey Steele about a fishing village in West Lothian.

For some useful contextual information (though bear in mind that posts are now in the wrong order and that, as usual, most people wanted to talk about different songs they had actually heard, which, though unrelated, happened to have the word "heave" in them), see thread

Lyr Req: Battlefield Band 'HEAVE YA HO'

No "chords" in that discussion, but perhaps the hint will avoid more irrelevant references to the Mingulay Boat Song. I expect there is a song book you could buy; or you could learn the tune and work out an accompaniment if all else fails.

D major with G and A and an Emi shoved in at the end of the second and fourth lines of the verse. The chorus is straight D G and A.

I actually play it open D capo second to make it E for my voice.
