Subject: BS: DroughtGate From: Bobert Date: 20 Jul 06 - 08:02 PM Well, gol danged... The Washington Post has done some fine investigative reporting and unearthed the Republican strategy for the '04 election... Yeah, rain money down on the MidWest... Yes, the "LivestocK Compenastion Program", pushed thru Congress by the Repubs showered gobs of federal tax dollers down on agricultural areas that supposedly had suffered drought conditions... Problem is that the area of the country that got the lions share of the money was the area of the country that had escaped the drought and was going to be needed in the '04 election... Yeah, if one were going to take a map of the US and shake a pepper shaker over the middle of the then one would get some perspective of the counties where more than $250,000 was idspensed in the counties represented by each pepper ground... It's really a purdy amazingly corrupt use of public tax money to seed those *close* sates with $$$$$'s... I'm not sure if the the map can still be pulled up but it visualizes the corruption to the point that a dead man would agree that something seemed fishey...
