Subject: Boys of the Lough Hymn: My Love, My God
From: wysiwyg

I heard this lovely piece on Prairie Home Companion, the November 27, 2004 archived show, about 22 minutes into it.

Can anyone help find the lyric and/or transcribe, and can anyone supply either of the airs described in the song's intro? Or supply/point me to a version in English, with or without tune?

Thanks for any help-- give it a listen, it's a beautiful air and I hope the text is as lovely.

~Susan

Received the below via PM-- although I think this isn't what's described at PHC.

===================================

YOU ARE MY LIFE, MY LOVE, MY GOD

I could never take anything from this earth,
No matter where I go.
And I can move a mountain with this mustard seed.
But I can't tell what it's goin' ta do to me ...

CHORUS:
You are my life, my love, my God.
And you have touched these things inside of me.
You are my life, my love, my God
And I love you ...

And I love you.
And I love you.
And I love you.

I can't even change who I am in this world,
without you right here living inside of me.
And with these changes, so hard, of what was once dear,
Now I know what they're goin' ta do to me.

I love, I love you.
Ah - oh you've opened up something new.
Something new, something new.
You let me be free again.
Ah-ah-ah-ah.

Set me free, and let me be me.
Set my heart on the open sea.
But always be there to guide me.
And I'll know, oh, I'll know.

Open up the door, let me come inside, and be with you.
Open up and let me see your light.
And help me find a way...

Yes, I think that must be the spelling of what I hear.

Yes, lots of Google results for Boys of the Lough CDs it seems to be on, and the Celtic Fakebook. If Hardi has that fakebook, the lyrics are sure to be in Irish-- way beyond my HTML coding to post in Irish, or know what it means. I'm aiming (eventually0 for a chance to take a translated (English) version and see if I can get it to scan for the tune I heard.

OK-- we DO have that fakebook, it IS in there, it IS the air sung at PHC (Minus ornamentation, etc.)-- but NO lyric, neither Irish nor English.

Tune name? "Irish Folksong," of course!
