Subject: Origins: 'The Oak Tree' Skarpi needs to know the From: skarpi Date: 14 Jul 06 - 05:54 PM Hallo all , I got from some thread a poem called " The Oak Tree " now I need to know who wrote this poem ? why becouse I wrote a tune to it and I am going to record this in a studio so thats why I need to know. here´s the poem : The Oak Tree A mighty wind blew night and day; It stole the oak tree's leaves away Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark Until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground While other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke, "How can you still be standing, Oak?" The oak tree said, "I know that you Can break each branch of mine in two, Carry every leaf away, Shake my limbs, and make me sway. "But I have roots stretched in the earth, Growing stronger from my birth. You'll never touch them, for you see They are the deepest part of me. "Until today, I wasn't sure Of just how much I could endure, But now I've found, with thanks to you, I'm stronger than I ever knew." well I hope someone knows All the best Skarpi Iceland. |

Many here at mudcat would tell you that the origin of 'the oak tree' is God. But you can't prove it by me!! And so... I think that I shall never see A poem as bad as Kilmer's "Trees" So here I leave the rhyme scheme of that sappy verse In hopes that never e're shall I be known to write A poem that's any worse!!!
