Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Rasener Date: 09 Jul 06 - 12:06 PM John Conolly has done many lovely songs, but do you have a particular song of his that you could listen to time and time again. I have one, and I can't explain why, but it certainly hits the right buttons with me. It was written by Dave Evardson and is called Camping Nights & Roving Days Having said that, their are many others that I love by him. |

Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 09 Jul 06 - 01:16 PM How fitting that our own Lincolnshire superstar, writer of so many fantastic songs of the fishing and the sea, and himself a great fan of Stan's, should be represented in the finale of the festival dedicated to the memory of (arguably - certainly by myself!) Canada's finest. Congratulations John, you must be a very proud guy, and deservedly so. See you Friday, S:0) PS - Breezy, wish I'd been there with you mate! |

Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Rasener Date: 15 Jul 06 - 01:49 AM Phew that was a topper. We were all treated to some excellent music. A big thanks to all of the performers. It was lovely to see so many people there (very close to full). So a many thanks to one and all. G & T once again did an excellent job with the PA and Mrs Sooz made the job of MC look easy (swine) :-), so a very warm thanks to them. Les |

Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Sooz Date: 15 Jul 06 - 04:01 AM Breezy - John was dead chuffed about Stanfest - although we did have a bit of a struggle to convince him that we hadn't made the story up! Perhaps you should book him for your club and tell him yourself! He was on to form and treated us to some new and nearly new songs. The highlight had to be "Grumpy Old Men" which had us all in stitches. I hope he can persuade Bill and Dave to join him in it when they all appear together in September! Any road up, if John was the cherry, the rest of the cake was pretty damn fine also. Knocker (AKA Maureen at weekends) and Jim, Ruth and Ploughman's Bunch gave us great sets with such a huge variety of material and styles. Good stuff, Les - you deserve to be feeling a nice warm glow this morning. |
|
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Travelling Audience Date: 15 Jul 06 - 06:57 AM You certainly do Les...Thanks for a great evening. |

Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club FridayJuly14th 06 From: Rasener Date: 15 Jul 06 - 12:04 PM You forgot yourselves Sue & Mike, you did a very good opening set (AKA grave yard shift). Anyway, that September gig with Fiddler on the roof, Goldengob and Bill Haley should be a humdinger. Tickets are now available and will go so quickly, with a limit on the door for Safety reasons. So don't miss out on your seats. posting on here or pm or e-mail or phone will book your seats £5 entrance. You know it makes sense :-) Yes I had a warm glow, and then I woke up and realised I had left the light on. |
