Subject: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: *daylia* Date: 01 Jul 06 - 09:21 AM In more ways than you might think, too. Y'know, that story makes me feel all warm'n mapley, right down to my Great Canadian roots. I feel so ... uh .... inspired! Snippets of music, of poems-to-be are whirling through my head thick as blackflies in Algonquin Park at dawn! How bout you? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: Bunnahabhain Date: 01 Jul 06 - 10:22 AM I guessed it might be a drive to get more female recruits for the RCMP. Well, almost right..... |

Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: van lingle Date: 02 Jul 06 - 09:01 PM I had heard rumors of WMD's (Willful Mountie Degenerates)in Canada and this story confirms it. I guess Dubya is now morally obligated to invade Hoserland and prevent this unholy union. Seriously, it's always nice to see someone finding happiness in the real world. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: Little Hawk Date: 02 Jul 06 - 09:10 PM What about chimps? They still haven't let a chimp into the Mounties, and it's a damned disgrace. I'm saying this on Chongo's behalf, because he's out on a case at the moment. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: GUEST Date: 03 Jul 06 - 05:22 PM Answer this: When you've needed a cop 'right now', how many people have ever asked about the sex, sexual orientation or marital status of the cop(s) that responds? |

Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: Willie-O Date: 04 Jul 06 - 10:53 PM Thanks, Guest 5:22 pm. The mother of Mark Bingham, one of the passengers who battled the terrorists for control of Flight 93, has made this point too. She's pretty sure nobody was asking about his sexual orientation while they were fighting for their lives. What matters about two Mounties (enough with the "puns" already, they are not really funny anymore) is are they good cops? It's a good news story. There have always been gay cops. Since the law is what cops are there to uphold, our new marriage law is dragging the RCMP (never the most open-minded or creative organization) into the 21st century and that's a good thing. I've heard this story before but am glad it is not on every newscast. The two fellas have the same rights as every other Canadian, no more or less, so it's no big deal really. I think that's what they're trying to say. W-O |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: *daylia* Date: 05 Jul 06 - 07:49 AM That's true, Willie-O. Thanks. But I do think there's times when the gender / sexual orientation of the cop who responds to your SOS DOES matter -- for instance, I remember one awful night when I was more than grateful for the female cop who stayed to give me some badly-needed support and kindness and wise counsel, woman to woman. A man simply could not have been as effective, no matter how good-hearted. And when it's the other way around -- ie when the cop wants YOU more than you want the cop -- a gay one probably has BIG disadvantages. Gay cops would be less likely to get all distracted and disarmed at the sight of my feminine charms, after all. ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: katlaughing Date: 05 Jul 06 - 10:04 AM Thanks, Willie-O. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I didn't know that about Mark Bingham, just saw the movie, Flight 93, last night. When I was raped, it was a male friend I turned to, who was more effective than any female friend could have been at the time. He was not gay, in fact, he'd been a lover of mine. I don't think we can judge all by one example, either way. I also agree with Willie-O, the puns are growing tiresome and really aren't funny, anymore. Are cops where you are, daylia, so sex-driven, gay or hetero? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: *daylia* Date: 05 Jul 06 - 11:18 AM Cops are no more 'sex-driven' than anyone else. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: *daylia* Date: 05 Jul 06 - 11:26 AM PS - so glad to hear a former lover was there for you, that night. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: *daylia* Date: 05 Jul 06 - 11:44 AM PPS Ah, I see now where the confusion started. By "when a cop wants YOU more than you want the cop" I meant when a cop 'wants' you to pull over for speeding, or something similiar -- not 'wants' you sexually! Geeeez .... So no, I didn't mean to imply anyone is sex-driven -- local cops or otherwise. And having charmed my way out of a few tickets to date (wittingly or not), I figure that particular scenario would be less likely with a female cop who was straight, or a male cop who was gay. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 06 - 11:04 PM 'And having charmed my way out of a few tickets to date (wittingly or not)' There's a term for that. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 06 Jul 06 - 01:18 PM Yarmouth area is a tough beat for these guys, they have to be good and tough officers. There are very few bad cops in the Mounties, they just don't last very long in the organization if they are bad. Yours, Aye. Dave (who works with them) |
Subject: RE: BS: The Mounties always get their man? From: Kaleea Date: 06 Jul 06 - 01:30 PM so, it's true that mounties are frequently secretly more than just friends? |
