I usually end up doing myself in this way, but here goes anyway.

Am I really the only one who wants this?! Seems like someone here ought to be as glad as I am for the additional songbook in the house. There are so many songs on here I'd never get around to putting together, but can't wait to have all in one place.

Go see the auction, all you singers, you:

"Gospel Favorites Volume One"

Bid heartily!

Dani

Dani,

If you google gospel fake book you will find there is a nice one out there that includes the melody line and has a lot more songs for $29. The reason I asked Susan if the melody lines were written out in her book is I know people at her church have made the comment that it is hard to sing these uncommon songs without the melody line written out. I guess she is too busy to answer any of my questions about her auction even though she has posted to the auction and several times on the forums. Seems to me that a seller should have some obligation to answer basic questions about what they are offering.

Wish you the best,

Pete

Being a singer with no training, no ability to read music, and no instrumentation, I'll be thrilled if I win this.

I suspect there are other singers who might feel the same!

That sounds quite nifty neato and a fabuloso match for you Dani! If you don't know the melody you can make it up as you wish! I suspect the person in charge of the auction makes use of the lyrics in just that manner! What fun! Never the same song twice! Endless entertainment! Nifty neato!

That's right, Guest-- OR she can derive a number of tune options by listening to the now-172 MP3's included, as described in the Auction thread here:

Gospel Favorites Volume One, Chord Sheets

Susan,

What is the source of the MP3s? Are they just a recording of you playing or from open domain sources? With the current climate of the music industry to sue it seems like a fair question to me.

Susan,

Are the mp3 on a home burned CD? The self life for a home burned CD is at best 2 years. Are you offering replacments if these crap out?

Pete

That should be SHELF life...the average SHELF life for a home burned CD is at best 2 years. That's what I get for posting before my first cup of coffe.

I have many home burned CDs that are six or 7 years old now with no sign of deterioration or problems.... I have yet to have a single problem with home-burned CDs. Not saying it doesn't happen or won't, but the statement that the average shelf life of a home-burned CD is 2 years is flat out wrong. I'd be happy to copy a six or 7 year old CD and send one to you, ridge plucker. In order to average 2 years, some of my CDs would have to last for just a few minutes.

Ridge plucker, is your main intention to harrass Susan?

I'm not sure why anyone would ask such questions (What brand of CD?!) about an item they obviously have no intention of bidding on except they have a grudge and nothing better to do. I seem to recall some sort of spat in the past. Is this related? Whatever your intention RP, you're portraying yourself as an obsessive, vindictive baddie. Impressions here aren't always accurate, but this is how things look on the surface. Is that what you want to dedicate your time and effort to here? Is that how you want others to see you?

In any case, the more you post, the more tempted I am to go bid on the item, and I don't even DO religion!

Jeri,

You are right in one sense my last couple of posts are on the jabbing side. I started out with an interest in this book for my wife who has played in the church band with Susan. She plays fiddle and likes to have the melody line to play from. None of my questions have been answered, not one. Since the seller has made over 60 posts since, I am very frustrated. Having been an operator of an internet business for almost 10 years I will tell you nothing will make you look more dishonest than not answering a question about your product. The first set of questions I asked were not out of line. Bottom line I just thought this may make a nice gift for my wife and wanted more information before bidding. Like anybody, I do not appreciate being put off. How would you feel?

Jerry,

That is great that you are getting that kind of life from your home burned disks. My post was based on internet research and my own experience. One of the things mentioned on cnet.com was the way the disks are stored makes a big difference. Thanks for pointing that out, what brand are you using?

Pete,

Sounds like you won't be bidding, then. Good news for me (no pun intended).

But, I do like that you keep posting and bumping the thread up so other people will see it and perhaps bid themselves.

Dani

Hey, Pete:

I've used a variety of blank CDs but have settled on Maxell 48X. I've had some trouble burning CDs with other brands, but when I';ve been successful, even with them, they've held up alright. Maxell is not so much more expensive that I would avoid buying them for the additional cost. On another thread about burning CDs, others have mentioned that they have the best success with Maxell.
