Subject: Hanson From: GUEST,Renate Date: 27 Jun 06 - 12:06 PM have anyone in here heard Hanson`s music lately? they have grown up, and they have really developed as musicians. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Morticia Date: 27 Jun 06 - 12:08 PM Don't want to sound elitist but you know this is folk and blues site, right? Not sure Hanson qualify as either of those. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Scoville Date: 27 Jun 06 - 12:18 PM I was just checking in to see if it really was, you know, that Hanson. I'm going now. I was too old for them the first time around. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST Date: 27 Jun 06 - 03:42 PM I don't think Hanson is any worse than some of the other things that pass for folk and blues here. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Morticia Date: 27 Jun 06 - 04:44 PM I carefully didn't pass judgement on quality, Guest, I think you did that. I simply pointed out that they were unlikely to be categorised as Folk or Blues. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Severn Date: 27 Jun 06 - 07:59 PM Maybe if they put out a nautical album as "The Hanson Cabin Boys"........ |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,maryrrf Date: 27 Jun 06 - 08:18 PM I saw them one time in an airport. I never listened to their music, but they were cute kids. This would have been around 1998. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Crystal Date: 28 Jun 06 - 08:27 AM I LOVED Hanson! It might be the only thing which gets me back into popular music! |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Big Al Whittle Date: 29 Jun 06 - 04:42 AM I think Mmmmbop! is a better folksong than the famous Flower of Serving Men, John Barleycorn, The Danville Girl or any number of those bloody miserable Irish rebel songs. A an R&B classic, I think its as good as Got My Mojo Working or First Time I met the Blues. I'm sorrry Hanson are growing up. Please tell them, not to. It's crap. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Paco Rabanne Date: 29 Jun 06 - 04:47 AM I bought Mmmmbop for my then tiny daughters and we regularly played it at 50watts, splendid song. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,Renate Date: 30 Jun 06 - 07:10 PM i`m so sorry !! i didnt know it was a folk and blues forum. i found it and thought it was a general music forum. and yes, mmmbop, thats 9 years ago ;) bye ppl. i think i enterd the wrong room. hehe. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Ernest Date: 01 Jul 06 - 07:49 AM Don`t worry Renate: "this is not folk" doesn`t mean anything - it applies to a lot of music that is discused here... Let them grow beards, knit aran sweaters for them and they`ll be welcome.... ;0) Best Ernest |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,Renate Date: 15 Jul 06 - 12:25 PM he already got a little beard sometimes ;) look : http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/downbeat423/Taylor/?action=view¤t=tay546.jpg are they welcome then!? ;) haha |

Subject: RE: Hanson From: gnu Date: 15 Jul 06 - 09:25 PM Yup. All welcome. But, don't start no threads about candy... Eminem melts in yer threads. |

Subject: RE: Hanson From: Ernest Date: 21 Jul 06 - 03:43 PM I am 46. Don`t know about everyone else here, but probably most are older by years and younger by heart! Best Ernest who lacks the courage to ask for your age ;0) |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,Renate Date: 22 Jul 06 - 12:11 PM he he. and im 20 :) so, what kind of music do you listen to? i sort of understand its folk and blues now ;) but i dont know much about that kind of music. anything i should listen to and mybe i will like? |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,Crystal (cookieless) Date: 22 Jul 06 - 12:43 PM Hi Renate, I'm 23, there are lots of us young ones about! If you are looking for great English Folk music I recomend Eliza Carthy, The Witches of Elswick and Crucible! Mark Knopfler is good on the American side of the pond, I'm sure other people will point you in the direction of good stuff too! Crystal |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: fat B****rd Date: 22 Jul 06 - 01:01 PM Wot's orl this got ter do with Hanson ?? I thought Mmmbop was ok but looking at them I thought "Toderly dood" might be the extent of their conversation. I'll get me skateboard. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Ernest Date: 22 Jul 06 - 01:56 PM Well, since you are something of a novice to the music here I suggest that you start with some folk rock (might be closer to the music you are used too) as well as some more traditional stuff for a change. Bruce Springsteen did an album with traditional stuff recently (we had a lengthy discussion here), The Pogues (Irish folk-punk) would be another idea - I am sure you will get lots of other recommendations. On a more traditional side The Chieftains did an album called "The long black veil" with guest appearances by Sting, Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones and others. There is just tooo much... Best Ernest |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: Declan Date: 22 Jul 06 - 08:09 PM Crystal, When I first heard Mark Knopfler I also assumed he was from the other side of the pond. Turned out he's from the north east of England, although he probably spends most of his time in the US these days. It's good to see a lot of younger people around here, and hopefully it means that you are listening to folk-style music. There's a lot of great music out there to be discovered. I hope you continue to be interested in this stuff, as well as more contemporary music. The only barriers are the ones that you allow other people to impose on you. Just ignore them! |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST,Nellie Clatt Date: 23 Jul 06 - 07:38 AM Greasy kids stuff. |
Subject: RE: Hanson From: GUEST Date: 24 Jul 06 - 04:57 AM at 26 years old I'm liking Drum&Bass music and Folk music. Not sure if i've ever allowed anyone to build barriers for my taste in music, but I think it's my mums fault I like Drum&Bass and Jungle music as she loves her bassy music. Yes us young Folkies are out there in abundance still :) I went out in Redcar a month or two back and met a few people who started singing folk songs after the music was turned off in Marthas Vineyard. It was great fun and reminded me of going out to the pubs when I go stay with my Girlfriends parents in Ireland. Sorry i think I'm getting carried away writing long and pointless posts here :S |
