True or false?

false, cane TOADS may eat mice, frogs no, frogs may be seen routing around the carcass of a dead mouse & this may make the observer believe that the frog is eating the mouse.

however, just found this!
"Frogs are carnivores. They eat insects, spiders, worms, snails, fish, and even small rodents like mice."
I worked in the reptile house of a large wildlife park for 3 years & NEVER came across this. I certainly have fed them with all the others on the list, but never mice.
I have fed mice, rats, chicks & rabbits to snakes but never mice to frogs, well you live & learn.

I've seen a large bullfrog swallowing a mouse in the wild. I've heard they (bullfrogs) have teeth in their throats for just this purpose. True?

After a fairly sparse few weeks of bug activity (due to dry weather), we had a heavy rain on Saturday that brought out the Junebugs by the bucketful. The toads that live around the back door are in hog heaven, so to speak! Some of them are about the size of a billiard ball, and they are very fast at catching those bugs. If a very small mouse came their way I can imagine one of them eating it.

But calling it 'The Amphibious House' might give people the idea that it could suddenly disappear under the lake and not come out for a week.....

I'd love a frog or a toad... we seem to be on a mating trail for half the snails in London and I would really appreciate a friendly amphibian who would munch his way through some of them. We have a frog friendly pond (nice deep bit, a shallow end, plants and rocks to sit on....) but so far we are frogless.

I have seen a frog eat baby mice (pinkies), when it stumbled across their nest, but got the feeling it would probably have prefered a nice juicy snail.

Chickens eat frogs! With delighted clucking noises! Mind you chickens will eat just about anything, including mice if they can catch them.
The tangled world of the food web!

Liz -

Some of our friends in the Seattle area claimed that ducks/geese like snails - and even slugs, although none of those who recited this particular wheeze appeared to actually have ever owned either a duck or a goose. Quite probably all of them did "own" numerous slugs, as that seems unavoidable there.

Frogs and toads are hard to train to the leash, so it's a demanding job taking them out for their exercise. Ducks are less difficult in that respect - more comparable to leashing and walking your cat.

We used to have a duck that would eat anything small that moved, EXCEPT SLUGS. Watching it trying to spit out a sticky slug if it got one by mistake was quite amusing.

Ahh, speaking of reptiles with slimey skin, webed feet, & croaks a lot, morning flamenco Ted!
I would not have belived it unless I saw it with my own eyes, but it is true, frogs eat mice!
same as ted does.

"Frogs eat almost any live prey they can find, including insects, snails, spiders, and worms, or small fish. Some larger frogs eat even larger prey: The ornate horned frog of Argentina can gulp up a mouse in one mouthful. All prey gets swallowed whole, because frogs can't chew. If they have teeth at all, they are usually only on the upper jaw, used for holding onto prey and not for biting or chewing."

True/False?:

An normally-intelligent dog will not attack a second toad.

My dog said True.

(Some dogs are not normally-intelligent.)
