I apologize if this was already posted, but I did search and couldn't find it.

From the Houston Chronicle:

NORMAN S. "EDDIE EDDINGS of Houston, Texas quietly passed away on June 14, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. Norman was born in Nacogdoches, Texas July 25, 1928. He was a well-known musician and song writer, having written and published "Yearning," "You're Just a Friend of Mine," "Same Old Situation," and "Smoochin" all under the Columbia Records label. He was the primary guitarist in "Guitar Boogie" and many other instrumentals. "Country Boogie," by Eddie Eddings, can still be heard on the Ken Freeman Show "WFMU" 91.1fm, New York City. Eddie Eddings and his band, the Country Gentlemen, were popular from the 50's to the 70's. Norman served in the United States Marine Corps and was an active member of American Legion Post 578. Norman worked for the HB&T Railroad for many years. Norman is predeceased by father and mother, Rastus and Stella Eddings, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by Rita Eddings, 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, 13401 Eastex Freeway, at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 578, Houston, Texas.
