Subject: BS: Full Moon & Soltice From: Sorcha Date: 14 Jun 06 - 11:41 PM How often does this happen, and is it a Special Occuisan? (That doesn't looks right but maybe it is...) |
Subject: RE: BS: Full Moon & Soltice From: Paul Burke Date: 15 Jun 06 - 04:04 AM Every every 19 years (the Metonic cycle), though every 219 (IIRC) years it's either 18 or 20 to bring it back in line- a bit like leap years. I'll have to look it up when I get home. And of course it's a Special Occasion, because every day is. |
Subject: RE: BS: Full Moon & Soltice From: clueless don Date: 15 Jun 06 - 01:10 PM According to the U. S. Naval Observatory site, this years's (2006) full moon in June was on June 11, and the summer solstice will be on June 21. But if the full moon did coincide with the summer solstice, it might well be regarded as a special occasion! Don |

Subject: RE: BS: Full Moon & Solstice From: keberoxu Date: 26 Jun 21 - 04:27 PM Well, maybe not on the same date, but they were close this June. We just saw the Strawberry Moon, which happens to be a Supermoon, and the last of the Supermoons this year, or so I was told. |

Subject: RE: BS: Full Moon & Solstice From: Steve Shaw Date: 26 Jun 21 - 06:43 PM I've just downloaded an app to my iPhone called NightCap that's supposed to make it possible to get great shots of the moon, instead of those burnt-out images you usually end up with. I'll keep you posted... |
