Subject: Audio Banjo Book Project
From: GUEST,Patrick Costello

I've been trying to put aside enough free time to knock out some workshops for vision-impaired banjo students, but unfortunately my good intentions keep conflicting with day-to-day work here in the office. With a new project for Pik-Ware Publishing kicking into high gear next week free time is going to be even harder to come by.

Anyway, I was trying to sort out my schedule this afternoon when a pretty crazy idea popped into my head. I already have a ton of material for people to work with, it just needs to be translated into a more accessible format.

What I'm going to do is start reading and playing my way through The How and the Tao of Old Time Banjo and release it chapter by chapter in a podcast.

The trouble is that it's a pretty big project to tackle on my own. I'm going to need help.

So I'm asking for volunteers to read a chapter, play through any tabs and send me the recording in an mp3 file. We'll post the file on howandtao.com under a Creative Commons license.

The book is already online so you don't have to buy a copy to take part in the project. We'll have some fun, learn a little bit and help ensure that the banjo is freely accessible to everyone.

If you want to help out, contact me at banjo@howandtao.com

-Patrick

I like your attitude to banjo playing Patrick. Not sure if Americans would understand a word of what I say though...
By the way, it was nice to see that the Daily Frail had reappeared a couple of days back.
Quack!
