Subject: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: *daylia* Date: 04 Jun 06 - 09:52 AM Are you a Rock-head? Take the quiz and find out ... I whizzed through that quiz, thinking either this is overly easy or I must be overly well-informed, only to discover over half my answers were incorrect. Even so, somehow I still ranked 12th on their high scorers list! Not bad, but I'm still not too impressed with myself. Makes me wonder how the rest of you might do. Hopefully I'm not the only Rock-head around here! Rock on, and good luck! daylia |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: woodsie Date: 04 Jun 06 - 10:02 AM I only got 3 right. But it's a not really a rock quiz it's a pop chart quiz and a U.S. pop chart quiz at that. So UK people beware! |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: gnomad Date: 04 Jun 06 - 10:09 AM I freely admit to knowing nothing about the genre, but was interested to see what score that would earn me, given that random guessing should earn about a 20% score. One correct, 61 points, or 10% Hmmm, I think the report might be "Could do better" |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 04 Jun 06 - 10:35 AM Last week I picked up a People magazine at the doctor's office and learned that U2 is still a band and they're pretty big. I'm not even going to try the quiz. For years I thought Bon Jovi was a person. Likewise Jethro Tull. |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: GUEST,Bee-dubya-ell Date: 04 Jun 06 - 11:45 AM With the exception of the one about who wrote "I Will Always Love You", the questions on that quiz are based upon statistics about acts or songs, not the acts or songs themselves. It doesn't test one's knowledge of music as much as it tests one's knowledge of the music marketplace. |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: alanabit Date: 04 Jun 06 - 12:07 PM I would fail miserably at it, but that is because it is about the American charts. At the time the Beatles were still recording and performing, for instance, "Eight Days A Week" and "Yesterday" were not available as singles. |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: *daylia* Date: 04 Jun 06 - 01:01 PM I would fail miserably at it, but that is because it is about the American charts. Ah -- then that's my excuse too. Thanks! As a Canuck, what would I know about American poop music? Or folk music? Or classical music? Or hey according to this article, even just music in general? I'm no doubt at least as culturally deprived as fellow Canuck Neil Young ! Neil has one of the most distinct styles in modern American music, but he can be compared to the likes of Tom Petty and The Byrds. You can also hear clear influences from Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and The Beatles.... Despite the fact that he hails from Canada, Neil has managed to become one of the most memorable, distinctive, prolific, and influential artists in Folk Rock. "... modern American music"?!? "Despite the fact that he hails from Canada..."?!? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Amos Date: 04 Jun 06 - 01:59 PM Weird. I know so little about the genre that I only got 40% and still achieved #11 in the standings. This makes no sense. A |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Homeless Date: 04 Jun 06 - 02:09 PM Since I got a whopping 50%, I think I should add that I didn't know any of them and guessed. Reading thru the questions, they seemed to be of the trick variety - in that the answer that most people would choose is wrong. Mostly I based my answers on longetivity of the act, then skipped over my first choice for the second. The wonderful art of test taking. |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: GUEST Date: 04 Jun 06 - 07:43 PM 5 out of 10, 294 points. Did not actually check for the ranking. Not quite the rocker I think I am, I guess... -- Gary |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Declan Date: 04 Jun 06 - 08:50 PM I scored 145, mainly because I knew that I will always love you was a Dolly Parton song which doesn't say much about my knowledge of rock music. I certainly wasn't going to provide my email address to be ranked in this survey. |
|
Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: MBSLynne Date: 05 Jun 06 - 07:48 AM I only got 20% and am at number 23. My excuse is that A) I spent a lot of the period in Australia where the number ones were totally different and B)Though I'm definitely a rock-head, I was never that bothered by who or what was numvber one. A lot of the best tracks were never released as singles. ove Lynne |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Peter Kasin Date: 05 Jun 06 - 10:56 AM 209 points and only 3 right. I didn't enter my email to find my ranking, as I suspect it would put me on some spam list, which might be the point of the whole thing. Chanteyranger |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Scoville Date: 05 Jun 06 - 12:43 PM 4 right (232 points), but I'm not sure how I did it because the only one I actually knew was that Dolly Parton wrote "I Will Always Love You". I haven't actually listened to rock music since the 1980's, and I know nothing about rock trivia. |

Subject: RE: Rock Trivia -- what's your score? From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Jun 06 - 04:02 PM LOL! I only got 1 question right for a score of 30. Not surprising, cause I don't give a damn, basically.... The only one I was sure of was that Dolly Parton wrote the song that Whitney Houston later assassinated. |
