I heard this beautiful song last night, it's a very touching lullaby and I've already forgotten who Wizz said had written it. I've been a-googling this morning & already know that it's NOT the one by Matt Redman. Can anyon point me in the right direction?

I think you might mean Ewan MacColl's Father's Song:

Wizz Jones also has a self-written autobiographical song about his own father, Burma Star, which I keep meaning to transcribe. If that's the one you'll have to wait for a bit. Unless someone else has already done it.

There's a short sample here of Dick Gaughan singing it on A Different Kind Of Love Song,Possibly more suited to learning from (as opposed to DG's highly individual phrasing) would be James Patterson's rendition on Patterson Jordan Dipper's Flat Earth.

Andrew Murray has an beaut rendition of it on his excellent 'Hell or High Water' album - White Cow Music WCM001.

Had the pleasure of Dick Gaughan singing this last time I went to see him after I mentioned it to him when chatting at the interval.

I think he plays it in DADGAD if I remember.

If this is any help I play it in DADGAD and it approximates the way Dick Gaughan plays it though it's quite a bit different from how he plays it. Can augment it with harmonics at 12th and 7th frets

I have the song sung by Ewan MacColl on a Best of MacColl and Seeger LP. I'm sure that the song is sung unaccompanied.
