Subject: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: wysiwyg Date: 26 May 06 - 03:45 PM I've been revising the players' copies of our Green Songbook-- the chord sheets for our gospel band's Volume One. I'm adding keys as my voice ages, removing marks for intro's, correcting errors, and adding a few songs that were included in the people's word book but weren't ready in time for printing. There's a CD with MP3s of some of the sources I got the songs from, or I could make an MP3 for individual songs by request of the winner for anything so obscure they don't know the tune. Anyhow, they are what they are, and not bound either because I'm re-using the binders. Should I put them up? I think I have 5 sets. Auction separately or as a set? Or wait until the reprint, and auction just one copy of the revised set? If there is interest, I can make an auction set each time we issue a new volume; I'm on Volume Four at the moment. ~Susan =============================================================== Includes most of the following: Abide With Me Ain't That Good News? Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: Ebbie Date: 26 May 06 - 08:41 PM hahha By the way, that's an eclectic list of gospel titles you have there. Many of them I learned when I was a kid from a hymn book - that black, cloth-bound one, you know? - and others I learned from Reno and Smiley, Flatt and Scruggs and others like dat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: wysiwyg Date: 26 May 06 - 09:17 PM Yes, and thanks for seeing that, Ebbie. It's representative of our goofy approach to church at the particular service we play for. (It's a Sat. evening service known informally as the Flannel Shirt service.) This summer we're looking forward to doing them all on the rear church lawn as we did on the hottest evenings last summer. And I'll get to bring Faulkner the dog to be our greeter. Leadfingers thought he might make a good pub dog, and that's a good enough recommendation for me! :~) Maybe he'll carry the collection plate as dog panniers! He certainly knows how to beg! Volume Two (Yellow) is shorter but equally eclectic, a bit more blues/black gospel material than Green. Three (Orange) is even shorter, more hymn-ish; Pink (Four) will also be short and have a lot of goofy and kids' stuff. We're working towards a new booklet each quarter or major church season. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 27 May 06 - 03:10 AM Are you REALLY SURE that there would only be ONE person at Mudcat who might want these, no matter what the Auction price goes for? I think you might end up with repeat requests... |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: wysiwyg Date: 27 May 06 - 09:46 AM I'm not sure at all; I just want to see what folks think before I set it up on my end. If I read you right, Robin, are you saying I should auction them separately and not as a set of five duplicates? ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 27 May 06 - 06:03 PM I was thinking of possibly having multiple copies of each... :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 27 May 06 - 06:08 PM That didn't explain much, I'll try again... I personally won't be able to go very high for a number of reasons, but might be able to go for a 2nd or 3rd round copy at a lower Price. Of course if everybody from the start knows that there will be more than once copy, it may degrade the potential Max Price (Hi Max!) of the auction(s). |
Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: wysiwyg Date: 27 May 06 - 09:56 PM bwahahahahhhhhh..... Sounds like the smart thing is to put one copy in, and see what happens. Maybe Ferrara will come along and post a review-- she got a gift set awhile back. I mean, she got one set of the Green book arrangements that were extant at the time. I thought I would wait to put any of this in, till the LP rush slows down a tad. Maybe tomorrow I will post the TOCs of the other volumes. Oh, and I should mention-- quite a few of the songs in all volumes have additional verses I added. As to whether my ghostwriting attempts are any good, at least one of them has gone into a Mel Bay anthology-- at least I think it did; I have not seen the book itself yet, but I was asked for permission to include my version of the song. So, I guess that makes this a one-of-a-kind resource of eclectic gospal styles and time periods. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Auction-Worthy??? From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Jun 06 - 09:41 PM I decided to put a copy of the revised, completed version in the Auction instead of the used version, for now. We'll see how it goes. ~Susan |
