He wrote some of the most perfect bar room jukebox songs, including "Driving Nails in my Coffin", "I Love You So Much It Hurts Me" and "Slippin' 'Round". Subject: RE: Obit: Floyd Tillman From: Gern Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:32 PM Very sorry to hear this. He was huge. Had an almost sarcastic baritone crooning style. A pioneer in the field of electric honky tonk and cheatin' songs, which brought greater fame to followers like Webb Pierce and Faron Young. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Floyd Tillman From: GUEST,Gene Date: 21 Oct 03 - 12:51 AM I believe Jerry Irby was the composer of, and first to record "Drivin' Nails In My Coffin". The song was recorded later by Ernest Tubb, Floyd Tillman and many others. Jerry died in Houston in the 1980s |
