Hiya does anyone know the lyrics to a song called "Sarah" I brought a single by that name in the late seventies, although it was second hand so could be from much earlier. It was a guy singing and I can only remember a couple of verses and the chorus.
If any one can help I would be really grateful, it's one of those tunes you can't get out of your head.

Met her at a dance hall
looking so sweet from the
stars on her make-up to the bows on her feet.
We danced until midnight then she went home
just me and Sarah left all alone.

ch
Sarah my, Sarah my, Sarah my,
love it's you i depend on
like the light from above.

Well morning came quickly
and Sarah had left leaving me lonesome
with the tears on my chest,
how long can one night last with too much in love
till the sun breaks the grey clouds of the heavens above.

Does this sound at all familiar? Not a good match, but right time period...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah Smile Lyrics
Baby hair with a woman's eyes
I can feel you watching in the night
All alone with me and we're waiting for the sunlight
When I feel cold, you warm me
And when I feel I can't go on, you come and hold me
It's you...and me forever

Sarah smile
Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sarah...

If you feel like leaving you know you can go
But why don't you stay until tomorrow?
If you want to be free
You know, all you've got to do is say so
When you feel cold, I'll warm you
And when you feel you can't go on, I'll come and hold you
It's you...and me forever

Sarah smile
Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sarah...

Sarah smile
Oh, won't you smile awhile, Sarah...

Smile...
Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sarah...
Oh, smile awhile, won't you laugh and stay with me
And then, smile...

this song Sara was on Knee Deep in the Hoopla-
indeed by Jeffersom Starship right after
"We Built This City On Rock and Roll"

"Sara" (4:52), "Knee deep in the Hoopla".
1985 (Peter Wolf, Ina Wolf)

go now don't look back we've drawn the line
move on it's no good to go back in time

I'll never find another girl like you, for happy endings it takes two
we're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

Sara, Sara, storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara, no time is a good time for goodbyes

danger, in the game when the stakes are high
branded, my heart was branded while my senses stood by

I'll never find another girl like you, for happy endings it takes two
we're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

Sara, Sara, storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara, no time is a good time oh
Sara, Sara, storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara, no time is a good time for goodbyes

('cause Sara) loved me, like no one ever loved me before
(and Sara) hurt me, no one could ever hurt me more
(and Sara) Sara
(and Sara) nobody loved me anymore

I'll never find another girl like you
we're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

Sara, Sara, no time is a good time oh

Sara, Sara, storms are brewin' in your eyes
Sara, Sara, no time is a good time for goodbyes

Sara, Sara, storms are brewing in your eyes
Sara, Sara, no time is a good time, no
oh Sara, why did it, why did it, why did it all fall apart

perhpas not the song you were looking for,
but I enjoyed the trip down memory lane
and the tune We Built this city...

"Sarah, Sarah, sitting in the shoe shine shop,
And as she sits she shines
And as she shines she sits
Sarah, Sarah, sitting in the shoe shine shop,
As she sits she shines, as she shines she sits,
Sitting in the shoe shine shop"

Always good for a laugh, particularly if you can be sure of your own enunciation!

Nigel
