Subject: Lyr Req: Missing verse 'The King and I' by Kohler
From: GUEST,Roger in Baltimore

I once heard Fred Kohler sing "The King and I" in concert. He included a verse about "Woody Guthre" that is not in the recorded version. Anyone know the verse?

Opening line of the song is: "I saw Elvis Presley and Amelia Earhart at the airport late last night".

These are the only lyrics I could find:

I saw Elvis Presley and Amelia Earhart at the airport just last night.
He was checking his guitar at the baggage claim; she was waiting for a standby flight.
And I swear it was him and Jimmy Hoffa, over by the money machine.
If I'd had a camera, I'd have taken their picture and sold it to "People Magazine."

CHORUS: Oh me, oh my, there we were,
The King and I,
Just a couple of regular guys
Having the time of our lives.

I saw Elvis Presley and John Belushi hitchhiking down the avenue.
When I picked them up and asked who they were, they both said, "Howard Hughes."
And I know it was him at the Laundromat trying to change a five,
'Cause he carried some jumpsuits to a white Cadillac that was parked on the curb outside. CHORUS

I saw Elvis at the Strike and Spare, bowling a 300 game.
He'd put on some weight and he'd lost some hair, but he was still the King, just the same.
Later that night, I followed him home to a trailer at the end of a road.
Elvis got some beers and we sat outside and waited for the UFO's. CHORUS

It was Elvis Presley and Yul Brynner and Yul said he belonged in this song,
But Elvis said, "Yul, go shave your head, It's already way too long." CHORUS

Fred Koller doesn't have any lyrics on his website, http://www.mycathatesyou.com , but he says he's willing to give correct lyrics to anybody interesting in recording his songs.
Nice website, by the way.
