Subject: BS: Frontline:'War Behind Closed doors' From: GUEST,Taliesn Date: 20 Feb 03 - 04:38 AM For those whomk actually watch their local PBS channels the multi-award winning independent investigative journalists' report program, "Frontline" from WGBH,Boston , will be airing a new production tonight that will finally look into the War-hawkish wing of the current Bush admin. The title is : " The war behind closed doors" and I suggest those with VCR's record tonight's broadcast as sometimes Frontline does "not" offer broadcasts for sale as VHS tapes. Case in point: "Blackout". The investigative report on the real causes of the California energy crisis. Enron's gaming of the system "before" Enron's collapse. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/iraq/ Should provide some new grist for the discussion mill. |

It is brilliant and puts the finger squarely on Cheney et al. Thanks to WyoWoman for bringing it to my attention. kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Frontline:'War Behind Closed doors' From: NicoleC Date: 21 Feb 03 - 09:27 PM I was a wee bit disappointed in the program. It seemed more concerned with making the various members of the administration look good than telling the story, aka Hollywood stereotypes. Colin Powell -- the aging warrior, clinging heroically to tradition despite the odds Wolfowitz -- the visionary Hussein -- brooding & evil, portrayed by the same photo over and over again Bush -- the young and impulsive King being transformed by the situation yada, yada, yada... Worth a watch, though, as it does shed some background on the situation. Apparaently in a few days you can watch it online. |

Subject: RE: BS: Frontline:'War Behind Closed doors' From: GUEST Date: 22 Feb 03 - 07:38 AM I've become pretty disillusioned with the Frontline series. Too watered down, overly dramatic, etc. Is PBS incapable of doing documentaries of similar quality and standard to BBC documentaries? I'm not saying that BBC documentaries are all of high quality and standard, but overall, they are much, much better than PBS documentary fare. |
