Subject: BS: How to Save the Internet From: GUEST Date: 19 Feb 03 - 07:10 PM If you live in the U.S., you should be very concerned about the actions of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) right now. Rather than me explain it, please click on the link below and go to the homepage of the small ISP asking it's customers to help. At the top of this homepage, in red letters, it says 'We Need Your Urgent Help To Save The Internet!' Click there to go to their explanation page. This is for the Texas ISP Association, and I don't know if the e-mails sent from other places will be calculated, so you might want to search to find out if YOUR state has a similar organization. Basically, Corporate Fascism will kill small ISP's if this is allowed, and alternate news sources will become unavailable due to rising internet prices. Common cause to be worried. We Need Your Urgent Help To Save The Internet! |

Subject: RE: BS: How to Save the Internet From: Bobert Date: 19 Feb 03 - 11:17 PM Speakin' of the FCC, guess who is the head man in charge? Give? Well, the last name is Powell! That's all the hint I'm giving out at this point in time. But seems like, among other really messed up things that are going down at the FCC, it's looking as if we will soon be getting all out news from only one of 4 places... then three... then.... Hmmmmm? I'd suggest that anyone that has the slightest bit of interset in keeping the media *honest* write their reps and tell 'em to keep the ownership regs in place. If those regs fall, so will any sembelence of freedom of information... Guarenteed. Bobert |
