Subject: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: GUEST,Boab_d Date: 24 Dec 02 - 03:03 AM Whilst I've been a mudcat user for a litle while I have noticed that at certain times I cannot get through. This normally lasts for about a day and then I have no problem getting back in for a wee while but then it does it again. Is this a wee something that only I experience or does it happen to others . Just one o those thoughts like no one wants me to play with them and I was all lonely Please talk to this as I'm vulnerable Cheers Dylan |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: mooman Date: 24 Dec 02 - 03:51 AM It's often offline for me am and early pm European time on Mondays which seems to imply that work might be being done at Mudcat central on the servers over Sunday night, though I'm just guessing...! moo |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: nutty Date: 24 Dec 02 - 03:55 AM Max did say (in the Mudcat baby thread) that he was still working on Mudcat and would need to take it off line on occassions. Other problems (I believe) are brought about by internet overload as, even with broadband access, the whole internet runs incredibly slowly at times. |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: Nigel Parsons Date: 24 Dec 02 - 05:03 AM Grat thread title, can I use it in place of: "Is The Pope a catholic?" "Do bears s**t in woods?" and other such rhetorical questions? Nigel |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 02 - 05:11 AM Nigel, I think you have it backwards. I think it's: "Is the bear a catholic?", and "Does the Pope s**t in the woods" |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 24 Dec 02 - 05:30 AM Hello, Boab_B Mudcat sometimes goes down on weekends, one suggestion was if Max goes away & it crashes, he's not there to reboot. Bookmark the following, its the Mudcat Help & Trouble forum (I hope the link works - if not its (help.mudcat.org) If Mudcat is down someone will have started a thread/added to an existing one here. sandra http://help.mudcat.org/threads.cfm |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: C-flat Date: 24 Dec 02 - 08:45 AM I clicked on this thread this morning and was instantly thrown into the twilight zone of failed connections. I couldn't get back on until just now (about 4 hours later) I suppose that answers your question. |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: GUEST,Boab_d Date: 24 Dec 02 - 09:25 AM cheers for your reply's and some of your sarcasm it has made me feel a little less nervous about a lot of things but they still come into my head and steal all of my ability to do things when I sleep. Cheers all Dylan |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: Coyote Breath Date: 24 Dec 02 - 11:19 AM Ooooh it ain't just when ya sleep! The kitty needs to rest every once in a while, go to the litter box, get a bit of sup. It's hard for the crew to keep pedaling ALL the time. Ya see they have this neat generator thingy that is powered by an old Schwinn bicycle and when they gets tired things sorta fall apart. but seriously; This is a great site and one reason is how well it is kept up and improved and tweaked. Remember that Mudcat is truly global and 24/7 as often as possible. It will happen that the 'cat ain't back sometimes. Also: s**t happens, just ask the Pope. CB |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: Duane D. Date: 25 Dec 02 - 10:54 AM I have the same problem here, too. Usually, if I go in via the www. url and it's slow or not responding, I can usually get in via the shorty server(exchange shorty. for www. in the url). Sometimes it's the reverse. I think Max used to have about four different servers online and now down to two (is that correct, Max?), which may be a contributing factor. |

Subject: RE: BS: Does mudcat go offline sometimes From: GUEST,Bill Date: 26 Dec 02 - 06:55 PM I think Mudcat is like all musical instruments There are times when they want to be left alone and just wont work for you. I have had the same trouble with both. Bill (the sound) |
