Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: Liz the Squeak Date: 06 Dec 02 - 03:01 AM That's sad.. I was thinking of Brian only last night, whilst watching the Bratling play in one of those adventure playground things they have in some fast food outlets that serve coffee at boiling point. She looked just like a big pink and blue hamster running around one of those hamster runs, and I thought, we've not heard anything of Brian's antics recently. Sorry to hear he's gone.... may Brian II bring you as much joy. LTS |

You've got to address this one and achieve some kind of closure before you'll be ready to move on. You owe it little George , or whoever is to come next, to be whole in yourself before you decide to re-commit. Thikking of you,Greg |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: sian, west wales Date: 06 Dec 02 - 04:31 AM How about calling a new one "Isambard". That's old fashioned. It's got gravitas. Just right for a hamster. Or maybe "Theomemphis". Sorry for your troubles, anyway. sian |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: Dave Bryant Date: 06 Dec 02 - 04:42 AM Surely this should have been an OBIT thread. We're all very sorry to hear about your sad loss, John. Are you planning any sort of Wake or tribute concert with Punch the Horse etc ? I'm sure that Ms Penelope Rutledge will also be very sad, as she has a great love for animals (perhaps that explains her attraction to Oakley). Sian, if you're thinking about the hamster's digging/tunnelling ability, then perhaps I should point out that it was not Isambard but his dad Marc Brunel who dug the first tunnel under the Thames - his son did help on part of the project though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: GUEST,Taliesn Date: 06 Dec 02 - 05:08 AM Sorry about your feeling of loss , but we all know they keep on making more of 'em. Actually if y'all get enough of them running in those running-wheels and y'all can generate enough electricity to do anything from recharging your car battery to running a 25 watt per channel stereo ,but not past volume level of 3. Depends on how many of the wee beasties you got running and on rotating schedules. Hey, is that ever a teaser for a " What Have Hamsters Ever Done for Us" thread. ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: sian, west wales Date: 06 Dec 02 - 05:36 AM Dave, no, I was not thinking engineerically re: Isambard. I just think it's a nice name for a hamster. Of course, all hamster aspire to an abode with all those tubes and bridges and overpasses and stuff, so there is a connection. (We have a Kingdom Brunel jack-knife bridge here in town, as it happens.) sian |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: Pied Piper Date: 06 Dec 02 - 07:20 AM Sincerest condolences on your sad loss 9John. But don't worry; you're bound to meet up again at the "Rainbow Bridge" and with all the rest of your dead pets to. Remember that Goldfish you got at the fayre when you were 8, and dropped on the way home? He'll be there. The Tortoise that didn't make it through hibernation. She'll be there to. And..... On second thoughts when you cross over to the "other side" I'd keep away from the rainbow bridge if I were you. All the best PP |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: Clinton Hammond Date: 06 Dec 02 - 08:41 PM Hamsters... heh... one of the pets that is cheaper to replace than feed... Also, if it was just living in your attic, it'd be a pest... if ya saw it run acroos your living room floo, you'd try to kill it with a shoe... Also... what you think of as a pet, snake owners think of as pet-FOOD :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit;Brian the Hamster R.I.P From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 09 Dec 02 - 02:48 PM John, be sure to clean all of the hamster shit out of your keyboard and any other places little Brian may have left his wee deposits. Otherwise, just as you think you're finished grieving you'll turn over a sofa cushion and there's a little Brian turd to remind you of him and it'll all start over again. Also, if you would like to cremate Brian and save his ashes, I do make pet funerary urns. I would even be willing to donate a hamster-sized one, but you'd have to cover the shipping charges (which'd probably be more than the damned urn's worth anyway). Bruce |
