Subject: RE: Chord Req: streets of new york From: Declan Date: 03 Dec 02 - 10:32 AM The song was written in the late 70s by Liam Reilly, lead singer and songwriter of a group called Bagatelle who had a major hit in Ireland around that time with a song called Summer in Dublin. The most famous recording of the song was by The Wolfe Tones whos single of The Streets of New York was in the Irish charts for well over a year and was number one for months and months. I don't personally like the song very much, but each to his/her own. I remeber doing a gig in Dublin one night and this elderly lady came up with a request - Elderly Lady : "Do you know I was 18 years old" Me : No, but I'll take your word for it". |
